Super Bowl LIV MVP Odds, Picks & Prediction
Patrick Mahomes
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: -110
The reigning league MVP has been nothing short of phenomenal in two playoff games this postseason and really, four career playoff games dating back to last season. After torching Houston for 321 yards and five TD passes with no interceptions, the strong-armed superstar passed for 294 yards and three touchdowns with no picks in Kansas City’s AFC Championship game win over Tennessee.</p.
Dating back to the final two weeks of the regular season, Mahomes has thrown 11 TD passes and just one interception. In four career playoff games, Mahomes has gone 3-1 while passing for 1,188 yards with 11 TD tosses and no interceptions. If the Chiefs win Super Bowl 54, it will almost assuredly be because Patrick Mahomes has a big game!
Jimmy Garoppolo
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: +275
Jimmy G might be the No. 2 pick on the board to win the Super Bowl 54 MVP award, but I don’t see it happening. Garoppolo has passed for just 208 yards with one touchdown and one interception in his two career playoff starts this postseason.
More importantly, if you saw the Niners’ 37-20 NFC Championship game win over Green Bay, then you know San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan is likely to limit the number of passes his starting quarterback throws in Super Bowl 54 after being limited to just eight passes.Raheem Mostert / Richard Sherman / Nick Bosa
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: Raheem Mostert +650 / Richard Sherman +5000 / Nick Bosa +1700
For me, I believe that if Frisco wins Super Bowl 54, it will be because of one of two reasons. Either, one of San Francisco’s multitude of running backs, like starter Raheem Mostert, has his way against the Chiefs’ uninspiring run defense or one of Frisco’s defensive players, like veteran Richard Sherman, picks off Mahomes at a crucial moment that leads to the upset. I like Raheem Mostert, first and foremost for the Niners in the MVP race, with either Richard Sherman or Nick Bosa having decent chances to pull off the MVP stunner.
Tyreek Hill / Travis Kelce
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: Tyreek Hill +1900 / Travis Kelce +2100
If Mahomes doesn’t win the MVP award for Kansas City, I suspect their MVP winner will be either Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill or Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce, although for either player to win, Mahomes will have to pass them the ball, thereby increasing his own MVP chances.
Super Bowl LIV MVP Prediction
29 quarterbacks have won the annual Super Bowl MVP award while seven running backs and seven wide receivers have also taken home the MVP hardware. Four linebackers, two defensive ends and two safeties have also won the Super Bowl MVP award while one cornerback, one defensive tackle and one return specialist have all brought home the bacon. With that said, I like Kansas City to win Super Bowl 54 and that means I’m going with Patrick Mahomes to back up his league MVP award from last season by winning this season’s Super Bowl MVP.
Pick: Patrick Mahomes
