The new NFL season will officially get started on Thursday, September 6, with the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Atlanta Falcons. It’s a tough start to the year for the champs, but it’s also just one of many great looking games on the NFL Week 1 calendar. We already have a basic idea of how each of the 32 teams will do this season, but that can all change once the games actually get played.Top teams will fall while dark horses will rise, which is all part of the fun of NFL football. It’s early yet, but we are going to take a stab at making some NFL betting predictions for the opening week of the season.
NFL Week 1 Betting Guide – 2018 Season
Does no longterm deal mean 2018 will be Le’Veon’s final year in Pittsburgh?(via @AKinkhabwala) pic.twitter.com/pVt3MpDVGJ— NFL (@NFL) 17 de julio de 2018
NFL Week 1 Best SU BetsIt’s always good to get the season started with some comfortable winner, so let’s pick out a few games that should get you off to a winning start. 2017 was a surprisingly good year for the New Orleans Saints, and I like them to get off to a winning start in their home opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is an awful lot of hype around the San Francisco 49ers, but they are opening their season with a trip to Minnesota to face a Vikings team that might just be the best the NFC has to offer this season. Let’s go with the Vikings here. The Arizona Cardinals have been steadily regressing over the past few seasons and I believe that slide continues in 2018. I like Alex Smith and the Washington Redskins to go on the road in Week 1 and come away with the win.
NFL Week 1 Best ATS BetsThe Pittsburgh Steelers have made a habit of getting the win in the opening week of the new season and you have to like their chances again this year, as they will start on the road in Cleveland as a 6-point favorite. Steelers are 9-1 against the Browns in their last 9 meetings, so should be an easy win here.We are all waiting to see how Patrick Mahomes will fit in as the QB for the Kansas City Chiefs, with his first test coming in LA against the Chargers. I think he passes that test and the Chiefs cover +3.I must say that one of the most surprising lines on the opening week schedule has the Tennessee Titans going into Miami as a slender 1 ½ point favorite. I think the Titans are going to be good this year, and I also believe that cover that spread quite handily.
NFL Week 1 Best O/U BetsI think we are in for an explosive opener when the Falcons and Eagles go head to head on Thursday night. The O/U for this one is set at 46 ½, which is a number I see being quite easily eclipsed in a shootout. The Bengals and Colts are not really on anyone’s radar this year, but both will be out to get their season off to a positive start. I don’t see much defense being played here, which is why I like the OVER 46.If I had to pick just one UNDER for the opening week of the NFL season, it would be in the Seahawks/Broncos match-up. The UNDER 42 seems like a solid wager here.
