The halfway point of the pro football season has passed, which is usually when the talk of coaching hot seats starts to really warm up. There are a couple of nominees to be the first to hop on board the coaching carousel, but the loudest talk has to be in New York, where Rex Ryan is skating on thin ice with his 1-7 Jets. So there’s only one option for the Jets: Win or Win. However, based on the NFL betting lines for this game, their chances are slim, and they’ll probably drop to 1-8 before the team decides to take some action.Date/Time: Sunday, November 2, 1:00 PMLocation: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MissouriBroadcast on CBSIn fairness to Ryan, he hasn’t really received much help from his players, especially at the QB position where Geno Smith has been about as bad as it gets. The perfect example of that came last week when he threw 3 picks in his first 8 passes against the Buffalo Bills en route to a 23-43 loss. Smith was summarily benched and will be riding the pine this week, with Michael Vick taking all the snaps. That Vick was equally as poor when he entered the fray last weekend does not bode well for the Jets.
Mike Vick is still a dual-threat QB that the #Chiefs must contain. @ChiefsReporter explains: http://t.co/jb1IqvDSsX pic.twitter.com/WmQcv1uq46— Kansas City Chiefs (@KCChiefs) October 30, 2014It doesn’t help the Jets cause that they have to take a trip to Arrowhead, which is always a stadium where road teams have difficulty coming away with the win. The Kansas City Chiefs are starting to turn their season around, going 4-1 in their last 5 games after going winless in the opening 2 weeks of the season. They have their running game on track and are doing a great job of protecting the ball in the process. The Chiefs have also become very adept at stopping the run, which is sure to limit what Vick is going to be able to do out on the field.BETTING ODDSThe Chiefs have been installed as solid 9.5-point home favorites against the Jets, and are currently 5-2 ATS on the season, which includes a 2-1 ATS mark at home. The Jets 1-6-1 ATS record is as unimpressive as their win/loss record.Game OddsJETS: +9½-110, OV 42 -110, ML +360CHIEFS: -9½-110, UN 42 -110, ML -460If you need a little more convincing about the performance of the Chiefs ATS this season, take into account that they are 2-0 ATS against AFC East opponents, as well as being 1-0 when they have been made favorites by 7-10 points. The Jets offensive woes are likely to be made even more difficult when trying to play in front of what is sure to be a loud Arrowhead crowd. If Vick can’t run, he is going to be forced to throw, and that has never been his strong point. I think the Chiefs dominate this one from start to finish, and that Jets will likely announce a new coach next week.
