Week 17 NFL ATS Picks
It’s the final week of the NFL on New Year’s Day, which means that your opportunities to build your bankroll are starting to run out. Week 17 can be a tricky one to play, simply because you never really know if playoff bound teams are going to rest some guys in the later stages of games, allowing their opponents to score some garbage points that can have an effect on the spread. We are going to try and use our best judgment to come up with some ATS picks that will make sense, and which will hopefully get your 2017 off to a winning start.
A Closer Look At The Week 17 NFL ATS Picks
Buffalo Bills (-6) at New York Jets
Neither of these two teams has what you would call an outstanding ATS record this season, but things are a little different when you look at them head to head. In that regard, it is the Buffalo Bills who are way out in front, covering the spread 7 times in their last 10 meetings with the Jets. With a win here, the Bills will end the season with a .500 record, and while that might not be enough to see Rex Ryan get another year, it’s a whole lot more respectable than a losing season. I think the Bill win by a margin of victory in the 7-10-point range.
Kansas City Chiefs (-4.5) at San Diego Chargers
The Chiefs have already booked their playoff spot, and they know that they will be going on the road in Wild Card Weekend. You can bet, though, that they would sooner land in Houston than in Pittsburgh, which is why they want that #5 seed. They can lock it up with a win over the Chargers, and I believe that is exactly what they will do. The Chiefs beat San Diego by 6 points earlier in the season, and I think that we are looking at a similar margin of victory in this one.
Seattle Seahawks (-9.5) at San Francisco 49ers
For me, this may well be the lock ATS pick of the week. You have a Seattle Seahwaks team with a bit of a chip on their shoulder going to face a 49ers team that is arguably one of the worst teams in the league. The Seahawks are sure to still be smarting after losing late to the Cardinals in Week 16, and they will be looking to take out their frustrations this weekend. This thing gets out of control early, and the Seahawks run out big winners in this one.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-7)
I may have been more inclined to go with the Browns had they lost last weekend, as this would have been a game where they were trying to avoid going winless on the season. As it is, I believe they are heading into Pittsburgh as lambs to the slaughter. The Steelers have the #3 seed locked up, and may choose to rest some guys, but they still have more than enough to win and cover even if they do decide to throw some second string guys into the line-up.
