NFL Week 5 SU Betting Picks

Written by on October 1, 2018

NFL Week 4 still has one more game to come, with the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs heading into Denver on Monday night for what should be a highly entertaining game. We are choosing not to wait on that one before looking ahead to Week 5, though, as this is often the best time to get bets on before the lines shift in direction that could potentially cut into your winnings. For the purposes of this piece, we are going to be looking at SU picks for NFL Week 5, no matter what the latest NFL odds might say, but we will also have ATS and O/U picks, as well as some parlay plays, coming your way.

NFL Week 5 SU Betting Picks

Tennessee Titans over Buffalo Bills

Through the opening month of the season, we can safely say that the Tennessee Titans have not played their best football, especially when talking about the offense.

Despite all of that, they are still out to a 3-1 start and you get the sense that their big OT win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 may yet prove to be a turning point in their season. This week, they will need to avoid a letdown when they hit the road to face the struggling Buffalo Bills. The Titans are not really an overwhelming favorite here, but I like them to win this one going away.

Latest NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • Tennessee is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games
  • Tennessee is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games when playing Buffalo
  • Buffalo is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games
  • Buffalo is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games at home

Carolina Panthers over New York Giants

The Panthers come into Week 5 after a bye week, so they should be refreshed and ready to go. They will return to action at home to a New York Giants team that is struggling to find a way into the end zone.

The Giants have not been totally awful, but they are just lacking the killer touch that is needed to get into scoring position on a regular basis. They have been poor on the road, though, winning just 1 of their last 5 games away from home. The Panthers don’t just win at home regularly, they cover, too, going 6-1 ATS in their last 7. I like Carolina SU here.

  • NY is 4-17 SU in its last 21 games
  • NY is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • Carolina is 9-4 SU in its last 13 games
  • Carolina is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home

Cincinnati Bengals over Miami Dolphins

These are two teams coming into the week with the same 3-1 record, but who are coming off very different performances. The Dolphins were soundly hammered by the New England Patriots, while the Bengals went on the road and pulled out a dramatic late win over the Atlanta Falcons in a shootout.
The Dolphins are not favorites to beat the Bengals in NFL Week 5.
This Bengals teams looks to be for real and are now more than just AJ Green. The Dolphins have had some real success in Cincinnati in recent years, but there is a different feel to this Bengals team this season, which is why I am on them to win this one at home.

Latest NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • Miami is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games on the road
  • Miami is 11-3 SU in its last 14 games when playing Cincinnati
  • Cincinnati is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games
  • Cincinnati is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games at home

LA Chargers over Oakland Raiders

The Raiders got their first win for coach Jon Gruden over the weekend, taking out the Cleveland Browns in a dramatic come from behind OT win. The Chargers have been getting some great stuff out of Phillip Rivers and the offense, although that has yet to translate into any real success, with the Chargers opening the season at 2-2.

While the Chargers tend to have a difficult time covering at home against the Raiders, doing so just twice in the last 9 meetings, they do tend to come out on the winning side of things, going 11-4 SU in their last 15 home games against Oakland.
