NFL Week 6 Betting Odds & SU Picks

Written by on October 10, 2017

Through the first five weeks of the NFL season, picking winners have been a bit of a challenge, mostly because the parity in this league is perhaps more evident than ever before. Only one team, the Kansas City Chiefs, remains unbeaten, while the rest seem to be sitting at 3-2 or 2-3. This parity is making all the division races a little more exciting than we are used to, which is great for the casual fan, but I think the NFL Week 6 Betting Odds are telling us that we will start to see some teams begin to open up. There are a lot of big spreads on the board this week, and while going with those favorites to win SU would put some easy money in the bankroll, I am looking for closer games where we might get a little more value. With that in mind, let’s get to my SU NFL picks for Week 6.

NFL Week 6 Betting Odds & SU Picks

NFL Odds & Preview for Must Bet Games in Week 6

Philadelphia Eagles over Carolina Panthers

NFL Week 6 Betting Odds: Carolina Panthers -180 Both of these teams are sitting at 4-1 and leading their respective divisions, but I would suggest that one is not like the other. The Carolina Panthers have not been playing particularly well, with QB Cam Newton bearing the brunt of the negative comments about their performances. That they are still picking up wins while not being at their best is a good sign, but it’s something that might soon catch up with them. I believe that might happen this weekend, as they are going against a very good Philadelphia Eagles team that has been winning in some style. I like Philly to go on the road and get the win on Thursday night.

Latest NFL Week 6 Betting Trends

  • Eagles are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games
  • Eagles are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games on the road
  • Philadelphia is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games when playing Carolina
  • Carolina is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • Carolina is 18-5 SU in its last 23 games at home

Detroit Lions over New Orleans Saints

NFL Week 6 Betting Odds: New Orleans Saints -200 The 3-2 Detroit Lions will go on the road as an underdog this weekend to take on a New Orleans Saints team that has suddenly come to life after back to back wins. The Saints are coming off a bye week after taking out the Miami Dolphins in London England in Week 4, a game that was one of the worst I have watched in years. Traveling back from London and sitting out a week will likely mean that New Orleans will need to shake off a little rust in the early going this weekend, which may allow the Lions to jump out to an early lead. I Like Detroit to get up early and hold on for the win. The NFL Week 6 Betting Odds are with Drew Brees and the Saints.

  • Lions are 3-6 SU in their last 9 games
  • New Orleans is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games

Baltimore Ravens over Chicago Bears

NFL Week 6 Betting Odds: Baltimore Ravens -300 The rumors of the Raven demise may have come a little too soon, as they bounced back after two straight losses to deliver a 30-17 win over the Oakland Raiders. Sure, the Raiders were playing without their starting QB, but that had nothing to do with the best offensive performance that the Ravens have delivered in quite some time. This weekend will see the Ravens take on a Chicago Bears team coming in on a short week after losing to the Vikings on Monday night. Rookie QB Mitch Trubisky looked the part in his NFL debut, but he is going to be in tough against a Ravens offense that is going to be blitzing him all night long.

Latest NFL Week 6 Betting Trends

  • Chicago is 1-8 SU in its last 9 games
  • Chicago is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road
  • Bears are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games when playing on the road against Baltimore
  • Baltimore is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games at home

Houston Texans over Cleveland Browns

NFL Week 6 Betting Odds: Houston Texans -410 There was a belief that the Cleveland Browns might be able to get out of the cellar this season after a very solid draft, but it has proven to be more of the same after an 0-5 start. The Browns have now lost their last 15 games on the road and are in tough again this weekend against a Houston Texans team that is performing well offensively behind rookie QB DeShaun Watson. Yes, the Texans will be without JJ Watt, who left the game over the weekend with an injury, but that should not hurt their ability to win this one.

Latest NFL Week 6 Betting Trends

  • Browns are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games
  • Browns are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games on the road
  • Cleveland is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games when playing Houston
  • Texans are 2-4 SU in their last 6 games
  • Texans are 9-3 SU in their last 12 games at home
