NHL Betting Prediction for Game 4 Between Bruins & Maple Leafs
Part of the fun of the NHL playoffs is getting to see the great match-ups that the postseason delivers. Every team that makes it beyond the confines of the regular season has a legitimate shot at making a run that takes them all the way to the Stanley Cup. A goaltender can suddenly as if out of nowhere, get incredibly hot, or an offense can spring to life and become an unstoppable force in the playoffs. The later scenario looked as though it was going to be part of the Boston Bruins story this postseason, as they were totally dominant in their two home games in the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, backing up the NHL betting odds for those ones.
The battle between a pair of Original 6 teams is far from over, though, as the Leafs headed home and righted the ship in Game 3, which now leads us to what is sure to be a pivotal game in the series. We are potentially looking at a 7-game series if the Leafs can tie this thing up despite coming as the underdogs at +1.5, but we are also looking at the Bruins have a chance to close it out on home ice with a win in Game 4.

Why bet on the Boston Bruins?
During the course of the regular season, the Boston Bruins put up some pretty impressive stats, averaging 3.3 goals per game, good enough for 6th best in the league. While we knew that this team had a scoring punch, things tend to get a little tighter in the playoffs. Imagine our surprise then when this team exploded for 12 goals in the opening two games in the series, including a 7-goal outburst in Game 2.
It certainly helped that the Power Play was firing on all cylinders, hitting at a 50% click and counting for 5 of the 12 goals that the Bruins scored in those games. Given that the Bruins posted a top 5 PP unit in the regular season, it was perhaps not so surprising to see that part of their game excel. They will be looking to pressure the Leafs and get them into penalty trouble in Game 4.

Why bet on the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Given the shellacking that the Leafs took in the opening two games of this series, lesser teams may have rolled over and died. Toronto refused to do that, though, coming out in Game 3 and putting in a much more disciplined defensive effort, winning that one 4-2 to get the series back to 2-1. As important as that win was, it’s still just a job half-done for the Leafs, as they also need to get this series tied up to stay away from the brink of elimination.
Discipline really is the key for this team, as you can see that things go much better for them when they say out of the penalty box. They gave up just 1 PP attempt in Game 3 as opposed to the 10 that they surrendered in the opening two games.
- Goals: 3.35

- PP/PK Percentage: 19.83

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
It can be argued that the Leafs are the slightly better team here when playing 5 on 5, which is why they need to stay out of the box. If they can do that, this series goes back to Boston knotted at 2.
Score: Boston Bruins 3 – Toronto Maple Leafs 4
