Why Bet on Columbus?
The Jackets (26-18-3) came out of their bye week last Thursday and ended a two-game skid with 2-1 shootout win over Dallas – then got four more days off. Artemi Panarin scored the shootout winner vs. Dallas. Since his goal came in the shootout, his four-game point streak came to an end. Nevertheless, the Blue Jackets’ forward has 12 goals and 38 points in 47 games this season. The Russian has scored five goals on nine shootout chances this season, which tops the NHL in scoring percentage. It’s a major advantage for Columbus, which leads the NHL with a 12-0-3 record in games that go beyond regulation – including 6-0-3 in nine shootouts. Joonas Korpisalo stopped 35 of the 26 shots he faced. Korpisalo also stopped Alexander Radulov, Jason Spezza and Tyler Seguin in the shootout to earn the victory. Korpisalo is now 5-4-0 on the year with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. He has won three of his last five games. It probably will be No. 1 Sergei Bobrovsky back in net here, though. The Jackets could get back winger Cam Atkinson on Tuesday. He hasn’t played since Dec. 23 due to a broken foot but is traveling to Vegas. If Atkinson doesn’t come back Tuesday, then perhaps he’ll be ready by Thursday’s game against the Coyotes in Arizona. He has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) through 32 contests after a huge 2016-17 season got him a big contract extension.Team Statistics

Why Bet on Vegas?
Vegas (31-11-4) is battling for the most points in the league and has a nice lead in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights come off a 5-1 win in Carolina on Sunday. Colin Miller notched a goal and two assists to lift the Golden Knights to the top of the NHL standings. Miller had not recorded a point in his previous eight games. Vegas is now within two wins of tying the record for expansion team wins. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 of 28 shots in the win. Fleury is 11-3-2 this season with a 1.68 goals against average and .946 save percentage. Former Blue Jackets center William Karlsson is among the NHL leaders with 25 goals. Karlsson, who was selected by Vegas in the NHL expansion draft last summer, had a total of 15 goals in 162 games in two seasons with Columbus. Now, he’s one of the NHL’s biggest breakout stories. The Blue Jackets sent their 2017 first-round pick and 2019-second round pick to the Golden Knights to have them absorb David Clarkson’s contract and to ensure they didn’t select Josh Anderson, Jack Johnson, or Korpisalo at the expansion draft. That left Karlsson exposed and he was subsequently drafted. Karlsson had primarily been used in a bottom-six capacity with the Blue Jackets, spending most of the 2016-17 season as their third-line center.
With Karlsson on the ice, the Golden Knights take 54.92 percent of their shot attempts. Many of their shot attempts are quality chances, as reflected by his team-leading 58.21 expected goals for percentage; those chances are translating into more scoring than what’s expected (64.91 goals for percentage).
Jonathan Marchessault is scoring at more than a point-per-game pace. David Perron has been the perfect fit for the offense and James Neal, Reilly Smith and Erik Haula have supplemented the offense with 30-plus point campaigns. Meanwhile, the defense has been solid, led by castoffs such as Nate Schmidt, Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb and Miller. Top to bottom, the roster has performed at its peak. Vegas boasts the third-best goal for total, sixth-best goals against total and a league-leading 29 regulation or overtime victories.
Overall this season, the Vegas blue line has produced 106 total individual points, which is in the top percentile of the NHL, and top four among teams in playoff position. When it comes to point distribution, the Golden Knights get (25.67%) of team offense from their backend.
