In this weekend’s top English Premier League match, Manchester United throws down against Liverpool. Check out Premier League odds and analysis of the top EPL plays for Saturday and Sunday.
Top EPL Games to Watch this Weekend (Jan. 16th – 17th)
- When: Saturday, Jan. 16 – Sunday, Jan. 17
- West Bromwich +1 (-103) / Wolverhampton -1 (-128)
West Brom is an absolute mess. Forget the 2-2 draw versus Blackpool in the English FA Cup. On Jan. 2, Arsenal beat West Bromwich 4-0. In their EPL match before that, Leeds spanked the underdogs 5-0. Wolverhampton isn’t in great form, but they should win by at least two goals.
Premier League Pick: Wolverhampton
- Brighton & Hove +240 / Leeds -104
Leeds was hot for a while. But then, they ran into Tottenham. The rejuvenated Hotspur put a 3-0 beating onto the chalk. In their next match, Leeds fell apart losing 0-3 to Crawley in the English FA Cup. The chalk entices at overlay odds.
Premier League Pick: Bright & Hove
- Burnley +315 / West Ham -121
West Ham has won their last couple of matches while Burnley lost their last game. There are two reasons to like the underdog, though. The first is that Burnley offers overlay odds. The road squad beat their rivals in the last head-to-head. The second reason is that even though Burnley lost their last match, it was 1-0 against Manchester United.
Premier League Pick: Burnley
- Chelsea -1 (-144) / Fulham +1 (+108)
Soccer handicappers should always be on the lookout for plays like this. The home squad, Fulham, gets a goal at above even money odds versus a team that impressed in their last against a terrible opponent. Chelsea beat Morecambe 4-0 in the English FA Cup. Before that, Man City and Arsenal beat the Blues by 2 goals and Chelsea drew 1-1 with Aston Villa. That’s not as impressive as Fulham drawing in their last four EPL matches and beating Queens Park Rangers 2-0 in the FA Cup.
Premier League Pick: Fulham
- Southampton +292 / Leicester City -121
Leicester has 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5. That doesn’t make Leicester the play, though. In Southampton’s last match, they beat Liverpool 1-0. The victory shows that Southampton will give Leicester City a game on Saturday. The odds almost force us to back the underdog.
Premier League Pick: SouthamptonSunday, January 17th Matches
- Everton +121 / Aston Villa +185
Everton has won 3-of-4. Even though the home team has lost their last couple, the losses were against top Premier League squads Man United and Liverpool. These two drew in July. There’s a good chance they draw again. The better play is on Aston Villa to pull off the home upset.
Premier League Pick: Aston Villa
- Tottenham -1 (-128) / Sheffield +1 (-103)
Tottenham is on fire with 4 wins and a draw in their last 5. Sheffield beat Tottenham in the last head-to-head. The squad they face on Sunday is much different than the one they bested over the summer. Tottenham should roll over the home underdogs.
Premier League Pick: Tottenham
- Manchester United +250 / Liverpool -107
This weekend’s top soccer match pits underdog Manchester United versus top squad Liverpool. Although they’re the dogs, United has a 3 point lead over Pool on the Premier League Standings. This is an important match for both teams. Liverpool heads into this off a 4-0 beat down of Aston Villa on January 8. Man U has won 4-of-5, though. Their lone loss in their last 5 was by an 0-2 score against rival Man City. Which team takes this? Liverpool should win. If the odds were any worse than -107, we’d consider backing Man United. But at the fair odds, Pool is the play.
Premier League Pick: Liverpool
- Crystal Palace +2 (+102) / Manchester City -2 (-136)
Manchester City is as hot as can be. The Sky Blues have won 7 in a row. Two of the wins were against Chelsea and Manchester United. City also beat Arsenal 4-1 during the streak. In the last head-to-head, these two drew. That was close to a year ago, though. Although Manchester City will dominate, we can’t allow ourselves to lay down 2 goals. We’ll back Palace and cross our fingers in the hope that Man City goes up 1-0 and decides to cruise.
Premier League Pick: Crystal Palace
