Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – April 24th Edition

The tennis betting action is in full swing, which means there are a lot of matches this week. It’s a pretty full calendar, with no less than three tournaments in action between now and Sunday. Rather than breaking down individual games, we are instead going to take a quick peek at all three tournaments to see if we can come up with some winners. We will start out in Barcelona, Spain, before also hitting Germany and Istanbul to close out our tennis odds analysis and predictions for this week.

Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – April 24th Edition

Barcelona Open / April 24-29

  • Founded: 1953
  • Location: Barcelona
  • Venue: Real Club de Tenis Barcelona
  • Category: 500 Series
  • Surface: Clay / outdoors
  • Prize money: €1,995,000

The men will take to the clay in what is going to be quite the star-studded event. Rafael Nadal, the two-time defending champion at this event will once again be looking to prove that he is the master on this surface. To win again, Nadal is going to need to beat Novak Djokovic, who admittedly has not been in the best form since returning from injury, as well as Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov, and some other very good players on the men’s tour.

All told, a field of 48 will be in Barcelona for an event that Nadal has already won on 10 different occasions. Thiem and Djokovic would ordinarily be the biggest threats to Nadal here, but since both men are trying to work their way back to full fitness, it’s tough to imagine anyone other than the Spaniard winning what must surely be his favorite event.

Porsche Tennis Grand Prix / April 24-29

  • Location: Stuttgart
  • Venue: Porsche Arena
  • Edition: 41th
  • Category: Premier
  • Surface: Clay (indoor)
  • Prize money: $816,000

The women will take to the clay in Stuttgart, Germany for this event, which has been dominated by German players in the last 3 years. Laura Siegemund won it in 2017, while Angelique Kerber won it the two years prior to that. Kerber will not be in the event this year, but Siegemund will, although she will have a tough road to follow, with the likes of Simona Halep, who is the top seed for this tournament, Garbine Muguruza, and Elina Svitolina, all in with a shot at winning.

Laura Siegemund looks like a safe Tennis Betting pick for this week.

The top 4 seeds get an automatic bye in the opening round, so it takes just 4 wins to be crowned the queen of the clay in Germany at the end of this week. The reality here is that the German stranglehold on this tournament looks to be coming to an end unless Siegemund can produce the same magic as last year. Halep is one of the best clay players in women’s tennis, which is why I think she wins.

BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup / April 24-29

  • Location: Istanbul
  • Edition: 11th
  • Category: WTA International
  • Surface: Clay
  • Prize money: $250,000

Another event for the ladies, although this one is arguably the smallest of the 3 events that we have on tap this week. There is still a decent field here, though, including a pair of former winners of this tournament in Carolina Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska, who are ranked #1 and #2, respectively for this event.

It would be something of a surprise if those two women were not in the final when the weekend rolls around, although stranger things have happened. I have my money on those two ladies being in the final, and I am going with Wozniacki as my tennis betting pick to win.
