Frankie Edgar (-235) vs. Cub Swanson (+190)

The now, 36-year-old Frankie Edgar (22-6-1) is super-experienced and once on top of the word as the UFC lightweight champion after beating former champ B.J. Pen back in 2010. Edgar then beat Penn in a rematch and then held on to the belt by fighting the dangerous Gray Maynard to a draw before knocking Maynard out in a rematch back in October of 2011.
Edgar then suffered a trio of unanimous decision losses against Ben Henderson (twice) and Jose Aldo. After that, however, he won five straight fights and among them, a thrilling Performance of the Night win over Cyb Swanson back in 2014 when he won via a fifth-round neck crank submission.

Unfortunately, Edgar comes into this bout after ending up on the wrong end of a first-round KO (punch) loss to Brian Ortega at UFC 222 in March. The 5’6” Edgar has a 68-inch reach and is one of the most versatile fighters in all mixed martial arts.
34-year-old Cub Swanson (25-8) stands 5’7” and has a 70-inch reach and comes into this bout off a humbling second-round submission (guillotine choke) loss against Brian Ortega at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Ortega in December. The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak and dropped Swanson to a modest 4-3 over his last seven fights dating back to 2014.

There’s a reason why Frankie Edgar is the favorite here and it’s because he’s the better, and far more versatile fighter in this matchup. Edgar just has more weapons in his arsenal than Swanson and I believe he’s the easy pick to beat Swanson for the second time in his career.

Frankie Edgar still has his wits and experience to rely on even if he’s not quite as good as he was when he was in his prime about eight years ago. Back the now desperate Edgar to get the win via another submission.

MMA Betting Pick: Frankie Edgar via Second Round Submission

Kevin Lee (-160) vs. Edson Barboza (+135)

25-year-old Michigan native Kevin Lee (16-3) stands 5’9” and has a 77-inch reach. He comes into this bout looking to rebound from a third-round submission (triangle choke) loss against Tony Ferguson at UFC 216 in October that snapped a five-fight winning streak. Lees has just one KO win in his career, but he’s recorded eight submission victories while suffering one KO, loss, one submission defeat and one decision loss.

Kevin Lee is the clear MMA Betting favorite for UFC Night 128.

32-year-old Brazilian Edson Barboza (19-5) stands 5’11” and has a 75-inch reach. He’s looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 219 in December that snapped a three-fight winning streak. Barboza has recorded 11 KO wins in his career, one via submission and seven by way of decision. He’s also been on the wrong end of 1 KO loss, two submission defeats and a pair of decision losses in his career.

While Kevin Lee lost his last fight to Tony Ferguson, I’m not overly worried, seeing as how Edson Barboza has also lost to Ferguson. For this bout, I’m going to advise you to back Lee to get the win as he manages to get this fight on the ground where he can use his superior ground game to get the decision over the older Barboza.

I’m not expecting this one to go the distance people. Lee wins via an early submission.

MMA Betting Pick: Kevin Lee via second round submission
