The Pinstripe Bowl is a yearly bowl held at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York City, New York. The game is organized by the New York Yankees and features teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (until 2019) and Big Ten Conference (until 2021). The game previously featured representatives from the Big 12 Conference and the old Big East Conference.
The winner of this Bowl is awarded the George M. Steinbrenner Trophy, while the David C. Koch MVP Trophy is awarded to the bowl’s most valuable player. The Pinstripe Bowl is one of two bowls in the yearly calendar held in the Northeast, the other being the Military Bowl held in Annapolis, Maryland. It is also one of three bowls played outdoors in cold weather conditions, joining the Military Bowl and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
The first New Era Pinstripe Bowl took place in 2010 with an absolute thriller as Syracuse beat Kansas State 36-34 to cash in as a 1-point favorite while the game’s final score played Over the 48.5-point total.
Underdogs have posted a 5-1 record both, straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the first six years of this bowl game while winning the last five Pinstripe Bowls.
Over/Under Total bettors have seen the O/U go, a dead even 3-3 while each of the last two Pinstripe Bowls have gone to overtime. In 2014, Penn State beat Boston College 31-30 in overtime to cash in as a 3-point underdog.
Last year, Duke beat Indiana 44-41 in overtime to cover the college football betting line as a 3-point underdog while the game’s 85 combined points played Over the 73-point O/U total.
