The 2016 Popeye’s Bahamas Bowl will get underway on Friday, Dec. 23, at 1:00 PM ET, live from the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. Sponsored by the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant franchise, the game is officially known as the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.
The annual postseason bowl game features teams from either, the American Athletic Conference (AAC), Conference USA (C-USA) or Mid-American Conference and will air on ESPN. In 2014 and 2015, the opponent was picked from Conference USA and in 2016 it was selected from the American Athletic Conference. The game will feature a team from the Mid-American Conference in 2014 through 2016.
The inaugural Bahamas bowl took place in 2014 with an absolute thriller as Western Kentucky recorded a high-scoring 49-48 win over Central Michigan to cash in as a 3.5-point underdog while the game’s 97 combined points played well over the 67-point O/U Total.
Last year, Western Michigan spanked Middle Tennessee State 45-31 to cover the college football betting line as a 3-point favorite while the game’s 76 combined points played Over the 66-point O/U total.
