Unlocking CJ Cup Odds, Picks, and Best PGA Bets of the Week

From TPC Craig Ranch, just outside of Dallas Texas, the PGA Tour will celebrate the start of May with the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. This is one of the stops on the annual PGA Tour. The course is a par 72, nearly 7,500 yards. The course was established in 1944.  Jason Day won the event a season ago. It was his second title at the event. Lee Kyoung-hoon won it the previous three times it was played. He has the course record, back in 2022 as he went -26 under par for the weekend.

Betting Analysis for 2024 CJ Cup Odds and Pick | MyBookie PGA Betting Preview of the Golf Tournament

2024 CJ Cup | 7th edition of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson
PGA Tour tournament
Thursday, May 2nd – Sunday, May 5th, 2024
Congaree Golf Club | Gillisonville, South Carolina

Jordan Spieth +1400

Spieth last played at the RBC Heritage, and finished -6, which was tied for 39th. The former Masters winner was not good at the event this season, going +9 for the two days. Spieth is 12th strokes gained, but has really struggled driving the ball. His driving accuracy is 99th on the tour. Currently ranked 20th in the world, he would love to bump his placement for this season, as he comes in 44th.

Jordan Spieth
PGA Odds: +1400 | PGA Tour Live Betting MyBookie Betting Lines for the Golf Tournament

Si Woo Kim +1600

Si Woo comes into the event 29th in the FedEx Cup standings, and 45th in the world. His previous result was a Top 20 at the RBC Heritage, at -9.  He made it for all four days at the Masters, and actually moved into the Top 30 on the final day with a 70. That earned him nearly $125,000. Kim is fourth strokes gained tee to green, and sixth in driving accuracy. Putting has been his downfall so far in 2024.

Si Woo Kim
PGA Odds: +1600 | PGA Tour Live Betting MyBookie Betting Lines for the Golf Tournament

Jason Day +2000

Jason Day is a 36 year old from Australia that continues to show the old man can play some golf. Day is 22nd in the world and 26th in the FedEx Cup. Day was a top 20 at the RBC Heritage, and top 30 at The Masters. Day has been good driving the golf ball this season, and ranks 24th on the tour in scrambling. His biggest downfall has been his greens in regulation, which is 165th on the tour this season.

Jason Day
PGA Odds: +2000 | PGA Tour Live Betting MyBookie Betting Lines for the Golf Tournament

Will Zalatoris +2200

The 27 year old from California is currently 16th in the FedEx Cup standings. He is ranked 30th in the world. Zalatoris is coming off a 44th place finish at the RBC Heritage, and was top 10 at the Masters in Augusta. Will is 21st in driving accuracy, and his scoring average sits in the Top 30. Zalatoris is a little underappreciated here with 22/1 odds to win the event.

Will Zalatoris
PGA Odds: +2200 | PGA Tour Live Betting MyBookie Betting Lines for the Golf Tournament

Adam Scott +2200

Many love Adam Scott’s game. It has been pretty inconsistent, which was shown at the Masters. He did make it all four days, but was up and down. That grabbed him a 22nd place finish. Scott was also Top 15 in the Valero Texas Open. He has been best with his putting, as he is 19th on the tour so far this season. His greens in regulation have been poor, and will need to change for these 22/1 odds to cash in.

Adam Scott
PGA Odds: +2200 | PGA Tour Live Betting MyBookie Betting Lines for the Golf Tournament

Others in Consideration:

  • Stephan Jaeger +2500
  • Byeong Hun An +2500
  • Alex Noren +2500
  • Min Woo Lee +2500
  • Tom Kim +2800
  • Tom Hoge +2800
  • Sungjae Im +2800

Jordan Spieth always loves going back to the Dallas area. This is his time to win the event. Spieth has never won it before, but has been around the top of the leaderboard in previous chances, including 1 stroke back in 2022. This is the year he gets it done. Our top pick for this event is Jordan Spieth at +1400. Our second pick would be Jason Day. Going back to back is hard, but Day loves this course, and is ready to keep his title.  Also, keep an eye on Zallatoris. We will place a small bet on Jason Day at 20/1. Enjoy the event and best of luck with your bets!

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour is back in action this week and back stateside as the top players on Tour tee it up at the CJ CUP in South Carolina. Held the first three years in South Korea, the tournament has shifted to courses in America after the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the best in the game will take on the Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Tournament play begins on Thursday, October 20th, and ends on Sunday, October 23rd. Given the smaller field of just 78 players, there will be no cut following the first two rounds of the tournament.

Last year’s winner, Rory McIlroy, returns to defend his title. McIlroy defeated Collin Morikawa by one stroke to take home his first CJ CUP title. The tournament was played in Las Vegas at The Summit Club.

The winner of the tournament earns 500 FedEx Cup points along with $1.89 million of the $10.5 million dollar purse going to the victor. It’s time to take a look at the upcoming CJ Cup tournament so you can get all set to make your bets against the PGA Tour Odds.

Golf Betting Preview for THE CJ CUP 2022 Tournament

The Field

The field will consist of some of the top players in the world of golf, along with top players on the Korean and Asian Tours. Six of the Top 10 and 15 of the Top 20 players in the world are expected to be in action this week at Congaree.

Joining McIlroy is current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, along with Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and Matt Fitzpatrick. Thomas won this event twice, in 2017 and 2019 when the event was held at Nine Bridges in South Korea. Two-time major winner Collin Morikawa is back to avenge his second-place finish last season.

Congaree Golf Club

The Congaree Golf Club sits approximately 30 minutes north of Savannah, Georgia, in the South Carolina low country. Established in 2018, the track was designed by golf course architect Tom Fazio.

Playing as a par-71, the course stretches approximately 7,655 yards from the back tees. There are numerous holes on the course with some serious length, highlighted by a par five that measures over 650 yards.

Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green is an important stat this week, as five of the top 10 players from last year’s Palmetto Championship ranked inside the Top 10 statistically.

Betting Favorites

Rory McIlroy tees it up for the first time this season, looking to defend his CJ CUP and FedEx Cup title. Mcllroy is the betting favorite at +650 entering the event.

Jon Rahm (+900) is right behind Rory after a quiet 2021-22 season. The 27-year-old picked up a victory at the Acciona Open de Espana two weeks ago on the DP World Tour, his first victory since winning the Mexico Open earlier this year.

Scottie Scheffler (+1200), Max Homa (+1600), and Justin Thomas (+1600) round out the top five golfers for this week’s tournament. Scheffler and Thomas are making their first appearances on the PGA Tour since defending the Presidents Cup trophy for the American Team a month ago, while Homa’s already picked up the Fortinet Championship earlier this fall in Napa.

PGA Tour 2021 The CJ Cup Betting Analysis & Odds

Previous Betting News

The CJ Cup returns to Las Vegas for the second consecutive season, this time at The Summit Club on the southwest edge of the city. Tournament play begins on Thursday, October 14th, and runs through Sunday, October 17th. Last year’s CJ Cup was played at the famed Shadow Creek course north of Las Vegas.

The event is a limited field event, with 78 of the top players in the world competing for the title. Typically played in Korea, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the tournament has been played in the United States for the past two seasons. Jason Kokrak is the defending champion and returns to the Las Vegas desert to defend his title.

The tournament winner receives 500 FedEx Cup points and a share of one of the largest purses in the fall at $9.75 million. The no-cut tournament and is the highlight of the fall wrap-around season on the PGA Tour. It’s time we take a look at our Golf Betting analysis for the upcoming CJ Cup at Sumit so you can bet against the PGA Tour odds.

PGA Tour Betting – The CJ Cup at Summit Preview

The Course

The Summit Club is a private course that sits between the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the Las Vegas Strip. The course plays as a par-72 and stretches 7,341 yards.

Tom Fazio designed the track and made sure to include his signature green complexes. One of the unique differences with the course compared to others located in the region is it is not designed like your typical desert course but appears more like a parkland course with desert features and backdrops. Bunkers are a staple at the course, with large complexes in key positions at many of the holes.

The Field

We have the strongest field in play this weekend, with 36 of the top-50 players in the world teeing it up. The field list also includes seventeen players from the recent Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.

Past winners of the event playing this week include Kokrak, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka. Thomas is a two-time winner of the CJ Cup.

Thomas and Koepka are joined by Ryder Cup teammates Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Harris English, Jordan Spieth, Scottie Scheffler, and Collin Morikawa. Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Shane Lowry, Sergio Garcia, Tommy Fleetwood, Ian Poulter, Tyrrell Hatton, and Viktor Hovland are the European Ryder Cup participating playing this weekend.

The field was limited to the top 60 from last season’s FedEx Cup standings, but sponsor exemptions went out to the likes of Rickie Fowler, Adam Scott, Gary Woodland, Jason Day, and Justin Rose.

Betting Odds

Thomas (+1200) and Johnson (+1200) are the favorites entering the tournament this week. The course has never hosted a PGA Tour event before, but those golfers that call the Las Vegas area home have a slight edge over the field.

Rounding out the top five favorites are Schauffele (+1300), Morikawa (+1500), and McIlroy (+1900). All five of the top players will be making their first starts of the 2021-22 season.

Other notable odds include last week’s winner Sungjae Im (+2600), past winner Koepka (+2800), and Masters’ champion Hideki Matsuyama (+3600).

2020 CJ CUP Expert Analysis – PGA Tour Betting

Previous Betting News

Okay MyBookie golf betting buffs, we’re in Las Vegas for the second straight week as the 2020 CJ Cup gets underway on Thursday, October 15. The annual CJ Cup moves from moves from Jeju Island in South Korea to Las Vegas this year because of coronavirus concerns.

No matter, with many of the world’s top players in the field for the 2020 CJ Cup, golf betting enthusiasts everywhere are going to have a handful of great chances to cash in with potentially winning wagers. Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa head up an absolutely star-studded field. Let’s take a look at this year’s CJ CUP odds, followed by my top five picks to win and cash in!

PGA Betting Odds and Predictions – THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK

2020 CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek General Info

When: Oct. 15-18
Where: Shadow Creek Golf Course — Las Vegas, Nevada

Past Winners

2019 – Justin Thomas
2018 – Brooks Koepka
2017 –  Justin Thomas

Odds to Win 2020 The CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek

The Top Five Golfers To Bet On

Brooks Koepka

The world No. 10 has been out since August with a knee injury and missed the U.S. Open. Prior to that, Koepka suffered a collapse in the final round at the PGA Championship and missed the cut in the Wyndham Championship before withdrawing from the US Open. Still, the four-time major champion should be completely healthy and fired up from the outset after winning this event in 2018.

Collin Morikawa +2200

In a whopping 21 events last season, Morikawa recorded a pair of wins, one second place finish and seven Top-10 finishes while making the cut a blistering 19 times. While the 23-year-old Californian missed the cut in each of his last two events at the U.S. Open and last week’s Shriners Open, Morikawa is so talented I believe he could very well overcome his recent woes with a win in Las Vegas.

Scottie Scheffler +4000

Sure, the 24-year-old Texan has cooled off with a T37 finish in the Sanderson Farms Championship two weeks ago while missing the cut in the Shriners Open last week, but I believe now that some of the pressure is off, Scheffler can get back to his red-hot ways. In 23 events last season, Scheffler recorded a pair of third place finishes and seven Top-10 finishes while closing out the campaign with a pair of T4 finishes and a fifth place finish over his last four appearances. I’m thinking Scheffler will challenge for the win.

Justin Thomas

Third in the world rankings, the 27-year-old Thomas won three times in 18 events last season while recording a pair of second place finishes, one third place finish and ten, Top-10 finishes. Thomas finished an encouraging T8 at the US Open and should easily challenge for his third CJ Cup victory, even if it doesn’t come in South Korea.

Matthew Wolff

Now, a stunning 12th in the world rankings, 21-year-old Matthew Wolff is a player with an extremely bright future who just so happens to be one of the hottest golfers on the planet right now. In 21 events last season, Wolff recorded one second place finish and a pair of Top-10 finishes. Wolff also racked up nine Top 25 finishes while making the cut 16 times. More importantly, Wolff closed out his 2019-20 season with a T4 in the PGA Championship before recording a T44 in the Northern Trust and a T16 in the BMW Championship. Better yet, Wolff has gotten the new season started off with a second place finish in the U.S. Open and a T2 in last week’s Shriners Hospital for Children Open. Make no mistake about it, Wolff is on fire!

Odds to Win the 2019 The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges

Which player among Thomas, Koepka, Fleetwood, Matsuyama, or Hovland offers the most value to win the 2019 The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges?

Thomas hasn’t unpacked his sticks since last August. No worries, though. Golfers can get back into a groove in a hurry. Before putting the bag away, he was hitting the ball incredibly well with a first place finish at the BMW Championship and a third at the Tour Championship. Not only that, but Thomas did win this tournament last year.

Although Thomas must be taken seriously, he doesn’t offer the most value among the favorites. That player is Viktor Hovland. The 22-year-old Norwegian should make huge strides this season. He finished fourth at the Wyndham Championship in early August and, like Thomas, has kept himself on the bench. Hovland offers +2000 odds, which makes him a value play in a tournament where, let’s be honest, the favorite should be vulnerable.

Which golfers at the odds of +2200 to +4000 can win the 2019 CJ Cup at Nine Bridges?

Marc Leishman shouldn’t be a +2800 choice. Leishman made the cut in 2-of-4 majors last season. He didn’t hit badly, finishing nineteenth at the BMW Championship and twenty-fourth at the Tour Championship, before taking a break. More importantly, he finished at -9 at the 2018 The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges golf tournament.

Leishman lost to Justin Thomas in a playoff. One golfer offers +650 odds and the other offers +2800 odds. If you believe, back Leishman at the much higher odds.

Which underdog golfers at +4500 odds or higher can win the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges?

Beyong Hun An shot a respectable -4 at this event last year. It’s difficult to understand why he’s at +5000 odds. He didn’t shoot all that badly over the summer, making the cut in five straight tournaments including The Open Championship, the Northern Trust, and the BMW Championship. An could get it done at sweet odds this week.

What PGA Tournament Matchups should golf handicappers consider at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges?

Check out three tournament matchups to consider playing this week:

Andrew Putnam +1 ½ (-135)
Beyond Hun An -1 ½ (+105)

An should have no trouble outshooting Putnam on a course he’s familiar with. Last year, An shot a 73 fourth round. If not for that, he might have finished in third place. Heck, if he shot a great Round 4, he might have put himself into the playoff with Thomas and Leishman.

Jordan Spieth +1 ½ (-135)
Sung-Jae Im -1 ½ (+105)

Neither one of these golfers hit the ball exceptionally well heading to the bench. Also, neither golfer played at the 2018 The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. Because of that, it makes sense to back Sung-Jae over Jordan. Spieth doesn’t head to South Korea in any better form than Sung-Jae is in. Take the better odds.

Brooks Koepka -1 ½ (-110)
Hideki Matsuyama +1 ½ (-120)

Matsuyama was on fire before taking a break. He finished third at the BMW Championship and ninth at the Tour Championship. It’s always difficult to go against Brooks Koepka, though. Although there’s a good chance Hideki outplays Koepka, -120 just isn’t as attractive as -110. Back Brooks to get off to a good start after September’s break. he can get it done in this matchup.

With the 2018-19 PGA Tour season still in its infancy, the march through Asia continues with the second event of a three-tournament swing through the continent. Defending champ Justin Thomas and reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year Brooks Koepka lead the 78-man field at Nine Bridges for the 2018 CJ Cup when it gets underway on October 17 at 6:45 PM ET. With four of the world’s top 10 players in the field, let’s find out which golfers are offering the best value against their stick golf odds, followed by my top three picks to win this event.

2018 CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges Betting Preview

Odds to Win 2018 CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges

Marc Leishman 14-1

Not only did Marc Leishman win the CIMB Classic last week by five strokes over the nearest finisher, but he narrowly lost this event a year ago to Thomas in a playoff. Leishman had a pair of second place finishes a year ago, including in this event while finishing T7 at the Sentry tournament of Champions. Leishman finished the season with a half-dozen Top 10 finishes despite failing to get a win one year after winning twice.

Still, after last week’s showing and his performance here a year ago, Leishman is my top pick to win for the second consecutive week!

“Getting off to such a good start to the year obviously here and up until probably the (AT&T) Byron Nelson I played really well and then I kind of cooled off a little bit, so that was a little frustrating,” he said of last season. “It was certainly a goal of mine to win this season and to win my first event of the year is great.”

Justin Thomas 6-1

Thomas sandwiched a second round 66 and third round 64 with an opening and closing 69 in Malaysia to finish T5 at 20-under par. Thomas won three times last season, including his win here while also recording 10 Top 10 finishes. Thomas also won three times in 2017 while recording 12 Top 10 finishes. All of that consistency, combined with his win here a year ago and good play last week, tells me he’s going to contend – before finishing second.

Jason Day 14-1

Day finished T11 here a year ago and he recorded two wins in 2018 at the Wells Fargo Championship and Farmers Insurance. Day fnished last season with five Top 10 finishes and 15 Top 25 finishes while finishing ninth in birdie average (4.18) and 11th in scoring (69.6) I see absolutely no reason why he can’t pull off the big win here!
