As the NBA Bracket Playoffs continue to roll along, we are getting very close to the Conference Finals. With several teams just one win away from a spot in the next round.

Moving on now is great, but the teams that do head into the next round will be well aware that the job is still only partially done, as 8 more wins would still be required before the championship is over and done with.

My Analysis about NBA Finals: Possible Matchups

We are now about to crack open the crystal ball to try and look ahead to see how things might play out. We will look at the current state of play in both conferences, make some predictions, then see if we can figure out who will make it to the NBA Finals. With that in mind, let’s get right to it, starting with the Eastern Conference.

NBA Eastern Conference Odds

We have to start things out by taking a look at the Boston Celtics, who have been the favorite to win the NBA Championship basically since the opening tip of the season. They won the regular season conference title without breaking a sweat, landing the #1 seed in the process, and they haven’t really looked to be in any danger to this point. They started things out by taking out the Miami Heat in 4 games, and they are now 3-1 up on the Cavaliers. They look a lock to move on.

The other series in the East is a good deal closer, with the New York Knicks winning the pivotal Game 5 of the series to take a 3-2 lead. While this puts the Knicks in the pole position, it should be noted that the Pacers took 2 of 3 from New York in the regular season, and they will be heading home for Game 6. Still, that is a ton of pressure and I’m not sure that they will win 2 in a row.

NBA Western Conference Odds

The Western Conference matchups are tight, which is no real surprise when you consider that the conference as a whole was tight in the regular season. We have the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks tied up at 2-2, which means we are now looking at a best of 3 series. The Thunder have the benefit of playing 2 of those games on home court, and while that has meant little in this series, I think it gives them the edge.

The Minnesota Timberwolves looked to have a stranglehold on their series against the Nuggets after going into Denver and taking the opening 2 games of the series. The Nuggets could have rolled over and died, but they instead stepped up a gear and took both games in Minnesota before heading home for Game 5 and winning that one, too. Momentum is on their side now, and I think they roll to the series win.

Who Will Be In The NBA Finals?

I think the easy pick in the Eastern Conference is the Boston Celtics. Sure, they have lost a couple of games at home in the postseason, but they have yet to lose on the road and look far and away the best team in the conference. I think it will be the Nuggets who come out of the Western Conference, setting up a Boston vs Denver finals.
