2018 PGA Championship Odds and Picks

Written by on August 8, 2018

The final major golf tournament on the PGA Tour takes place this week. The 2018 PGA Championship is at Bellerive Golf Course in St. Louis, Missouri. Bellerive is not a regularly played course on the PGA Tour. The last major tournament that Bellerive hosted was the PGA Championship in 1992. That means no golfer will have an edge over his competitors in this week’s tournament. Here’s a look at the golf odds for this tournament.

2018 PGA Championship Odds and Picks

Favorites

  • Dustin Johnson                    +800
  • Rory McIlroy                         +1200
  • Justin Thomas                      +1400
  • Brooks Koepka                     +2000
Dustin Johnson is a throw out. The single digit favorite could definitely win this, but his form appears more conducive to a Top 5 finish than an actual victory. DJ failed miserably at Carnoustie Golf Links at The Open Championship. He finished third at the U.S. Open and he finished tenth at the Masters. The real play amongst the favorites is Justin Thomas. Ranked first on the earnings list, Thomas heads to Bellerive having won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He’s hitting the ball exceptionally well. Don’t be surprised if Thomas takes the PGA Championship at decent +1400 odds on Sunday. 2018 PGA Championship Odds Favorite: Justin Thomas

The Second Choices

Is Jordan Spieth a safe bet to win the 2018 PGA Championship?
  • Jordan Spieth                       +2200
  • Tiger Woods                          +2500
  • Jon Rahm                               +2500
  • Tommy Fleetwood              +2800
  • Francesco Molinari            +3000
Francesco Molinari won The Open Championship at Carnoustie. That means, he’s got hot clubs heading into the next PGA Tour Major Tournament. But, playing well over a links course is different than playing well over a classic American golf course like Bellerive. Tiger’s game is probably a year away from being at its best. He just changed his swing this January. That means Tiger is a play against in this category as well. Jordan Spieth offers decent odds. He failed miserably at the U.S. Open. He bounced back with a very good run at Carnoustie. Spieth hasn’t been as sharp this year as in years past. No worries. He’s talented enough to come up with his best game at the final major championship of the year. 2018 PGA Championship Odds Second Choices Pick: Jordan Spieth

The Underdogs

  • Patrick Reed                         +4000
  • Tony Finau                            +4000
  • Patrick Cantlay                    +4000
  • Henrik Stenson                   +4500
  • Alexander Noren                 +4500
Both Tony Finau and Patrick Cantlay have a big shot. The play is Finau who although stubbing his toe here and there this year, has shown up big time in every major PGA Tournament. Finau finished tenth at the Masters. He followed that up with a nice fifth at the U.S. Open. Finau even played well at Carnoustie. He shot a 67-71-71-71—280 to finish tenth. The man’s been on point with his clubs in major tournaments. He might win the PGA Championship at huge +4000 odds. 2018 PGA Championship Odds Underdog Pick: Tony Finau
