Conference Media Days are quickly approaching, which only means that the 2021 college football season is closing in. There are 130 FBS teams entering the 2021 season, but we will look at the top teams and their projected totals and a few notes on the team.
As a reminder, these totals are based on the regular season only and do not include conference championships or bowl games. With that in mind, let’s get right to it so you can plan your bets against their NCAAF Regular Season Wins odds.
A Dive Into Our 2021 College Football Win Total Prediction
Alabama Crimson Tide – 11.5
- Over +100
- Under -125
No surprise, but the defending national champions are slated with the highest projected win total in college football. The Crimson Tide usher in new playmakers on offense but return a bulk of their defense.
Clemson Tigers – 11.5
- Over +100
- Under -125
Similar to Alabama, the Clemson Tigers are set to produce another championship run in 2021. While the Tigers will have to replace Trevor Lawrence, the Tigers return ten starters from last year’s team. A season-opening contest against the Georgia Bulldogs will set the tone for the season.
Ohio State Buckeyes – 11
- Over -115
- Under -115
Like the two teams above, the Buckeyes will usher in a new quarterback this season with the departure of Justin Fields to the NFL. OSU returns both its playmakers at wide receiver, so whoever wins the quarterback duties will have two NFL wideouts to throw to. Defensively, the Buckeyes will need to replace a few stars from last season’s unit but have the talent waiting in the wings.
Oklahoma Sooners – 11
- Over -140
- Under +110
The first team on the list that returns its starting quarterback. Spencer Rattler is widely considered to be the pre-season frontrunner for the Heisman. Playmakers surround Rattler on offense, and the defense should continue to be one of the best in the Big 12 under Alex Grinch.
Georgia Bulldogs – 10.5
- Over +100
- Under -125
The preseason hype is buzzing again in Athens, with Bulldogs finally finding their quarterback. JT Daniels started the final four games of Georgia’s 2020 season, and the offense looked potent. After years of elite recruiting classes, this could be one of the best teams top to bottom of the Kirby Smart era.
North Carolina Tar Heels – 10
- Over +110
- Under -140
Mack Brown has completely transformed the Tar Heel football program and has put them back in the national spotlight. UNC returns 21 of 22 starters from last season, highlighted by quarterback Sam Howell. The Tar Heels don’t have Clemson on the schedule, so a home date against Miami is the only glaring game in question.
Iowa State Cyclones – 9.5
- Over -140
- Under +110
The Cyclones are another ball team that returns a bulk of its talent from last season. Brock Purdy bypassed a chance to head to the NFL to return for a final season, and the most decorated quarterback in Iowa State’s history will have everything he needs to put together a Heisman campaign.
Miami Hurricanes – 9.5
- Over -125
- Under +100
Miami welcomes back D’Eriq King to Coral Gables along with returning starters at running back and wide receiver. The Hurricanes will need to see a significant improvement from its offensive line in 2021 if it wants to contend for an ACC crown. The defense will be a plus for head coach Manny Diaz with a majority of starters back.
Texas A&M Aggies – 9.5
- Over +100
- Under -125
Jimbo Fisher has built a program in College Station that is standing on the doorstep of joining college football’s elite. Top-ranked recruiting classes and returning nine defensive starters give Aggie fans hope that even with the departure of four-year starting quarterback Kellen Mond the Aggies will be elite.
Florida Gators – 9
- Over -140
- Under +110
Florida suffered three straight losses to end the 2020 season, including an embarrassing Cotton Bowl loss to Oklahoma. Kyle Trask, Kyle Pitts, and Kadarius Toney are gone, so the Florida Gators will need to reload offensively. On the other side of the ball, the Gators should be much improved after fielding one of the worst defensive units in recent memory.
