Last Season
Arizona leads the all-time series 50-46-1 following a 38-35 win last season. Michael Wiley ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats ended a five-game losing streak in the Territorial Cup rivalry. Wiley finished with the second-most rushing yards in Territorial Cup history behind Trung Candidate’s 288 for Arizona in 1998. The Wildcats ran for 280 yards to offset a rare quiet passing day by QB Jayden de Laura. Trenton Bourguet threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns for Arizona State. The Sun Devils got the ball back at their own 28-yard line with 1:33 left, but Bourguet threw his second interception after being hit.
Why Bet on Arizona?
No coach in the country has done a better job than Jedd Fisch at Arizona (8-3), which comes off a 42-18 rout of No. 18 Utah to keep its Pac-12 title game hopes alive. Noah Fifita threw for two touchdowns and UA manhandled the two-time reigning Pac-12 champions from the opening drive, building a 28-0 lead by the first play of the second quarter.
The Wildcats intercepted passes by Bryson Barnes twice in their end and forced a turnover on downs near midfield to beat four AP Top 25 teams in a season for the first time since 1989. Fifita threw for 253 yards on 22-of-30 passing against a banged-up Utah defense missing rover Karene Reid, safety Cole Bishop and defensive end Jonah Elliss.
Fifita, WR Tetairoa McMillan, and QB Jayden de Laura all threw touchdown passes against the Utes. It was the first time since 1996 that Arizona had three different players throw touchdown passes in one game. Arizona opened the scoring with a trick play touchdown pass from McMillan to RB Michael Wiley. It marked the first time a Wildcat wide receiver threw a touchdown pass since WR Jamarye Joiner at USC on Oct. 31, 2021.
McMillan also became the first Arizona player since 1996 with a passing and a receiving touchdown in the same game. He is the seventh Division I player to accomplish the feat this year. McMillan finished the game with 116 yards on a team-high eight receptions. It marks his fourth 100-yard performance this season and the fifth of his career. l Wiley hauled in a pair of touchdown passes, giving him the fifth multi-score game of his career.
Anthony Ward broke through the line to block a Utah punt in the first quarter and returned his own block two yards for a touchdown. It was the first time an Arizona player returned a blocked punt for a score since Rhedi Short accomplished the feat, also against Utah, on Nov. 13, 2021.
With Saturday’s win over, Arizona improved to 5-6 (.455) against teams ranked in the AP Top 25 under Fisch. The Wildcats have now won four consecutive games against ranked opponents. Their eight wins so far are the most the team has earned since going 10-4 in 2014. This is the 18th season in program history with eight or more wins.
The Wildcats’ current seven-win jump over the 2021 team’s 1-11 mark is tied for the largest two-year improvement in program history. Arizona also improved by seven wins between the 1996 (5-6) and 1998 (12-1) seasons.
To reach the Pac-12 title game, Arizona must win this game and have Oregon State upset Oregon. If both those results come to pass, Arizona would tie Oregon for second place, and the Wildcats would win the tiebreaker even though the schools didn’t play each other.
“I think our team will be very excited to play against ASU, there won’t be a question about that. We understand the importance of the game. We want to keep the Territorial Cup here in Tucson, and our guys recognize that understand that,” Fisch said.

Why Bet on Arizona State?
At 3-8, this will be Arizona State’s final game of the season. The Sun Devils were beaten 49-13 at home by No. 6 Oregon on Saturday as the Ducks remained on track to earn a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game and in the race for a College Football Playoff berth.
Facing former UO offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham, now the head coach at ASU, Oregon’s defense dealt with an array of Wildcat and swinging gate formations. The Sun Devils played both a running back and a tight end at quarterback, where they’ve been beset by injuries, yet the UO defense adapted to the exotic looks and pitched a shutout in the first half. The Ducks buried the Sun Devils with an avalanche of offense on the way to a 42-0 lead, scoring touchdowns on their first six drives and gaining 444 total yards.
Elijah Badger caught seven receptions for 64 yards in the loss, putting him one reception short of entering the top-10 career receptions list, he currently had 142 receptions in his tenure and has 66 this season, four shy of tying a career high. He passed Keith Poole on the Sun Devil career reception list.
With Cam Skattebo taking the first snap against Oregon, five Sun Devils have started at quarterback. Jaden Rashada started the first two games but was injured. Trenton Bourguet started vs. Fresno State and then was injured, while Drew Pyne started vs. USC before leaving to injury. Bourguet started the next five before Jalin Conyers took the first snap at UCLA.
Dillingham has put together a roster with 78 total newcomers this season – the second-most of any FBS school behind only Colorado (88). The team’s 40 total transfers from all levels are the second most in the FBS while the squad’s 52 scholarship newcomers are third. ASU’s 29 returning scholarship players are the second-fewest behind Colorado (9) and the team’s 134 total starts returning were the fourth-lowest in the FBS. Rashada became just the second true freshman quarterback in program history to start the season opener, and was the only true freshman quarterback to start in a team’s FBS opener.
Despite being the-most targeted cornerback in the Pac-12 (59 targets), Jordan Clark is one of only seven league corners with 200 coverage snaps to not allow a touchdown this season The Sun Devil defense thus far has been successful in harrying opposing quarterbacks, giving team’s just an average of 2.35 seconds to throw the ball – the 22nd-fastest time in the FBS.
