One of last year’s surprise teams, the Arkansas Razorbacks hope to build upon their 2021 success. Quarterback K.J. Jefferson returns and so do players on the Hogs’ offensive line. Things are so bullish at Arkansas that the Razorbacks will enter the season with a high, at least for them, win-loss total of 7 ½ games. Read why Arkansas will win 8 games, why the Hogs won’t, and a final NCAAF Regular Season Wins Betting prediction.
Arkansas 2022 Season Betting Prediction: Win/Loss Total Record
2022-23 NCAAF College Football Season
- When: August 27, 2022 – Dec. 10, 2022
- Under 7 ½ -166 vs Over 7 ½ +120
Why Arkansas will win more than 7 games
One of the best indicators that a college football team will excel is by studying the team’s offensive line. On average, college football squads with returning offensive linemen, by far, perform better than teams that must break in new offensive linemen.
Four of Arkansas’ starting offensive lineman from last season return. Right tackle Dalton Wagner, center Ricky Stromberg, left guard Brady Latham, and right guard Beau Limmer will open holes for two of the better pair of running backs in the SEC, Raheim Sanders and Dominque Johnson.
Also, quarterback K.J. Jefferson is one of the SEC’s top returning signal-callers. So although wide receiver Trey Burke is in the NFL, Jefferson will find a way to lead the Hogs to at least 8 wins.
Why Arkansas won’t win more than 7 games
Arkansas’ best run stopper from a year ago, John Ridgeway, now plays for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did Arkansas lose Ridgeway, but they lost three other defenders from last year’s surprise squad: Montaric Brown, Grant Morgan, and Tre Williams.
Also, this is the SEC. Arkansas is one of the few teams in the conference that has to play Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss. All five of those rivals can beat the Hogs.
Final Betting Analysis: Will Arkansas win at least 8 games?
The Arkansas Razorbacks are a quality football team. The offense should have no trouble moving the football in the rushing attack while the defense will be better than many believe.
But Arkansas, although talented, will struggle to win 8 games. The schedule is difficult. The Razorbacks open the season versus 2021 College Football Playoff squad Cincinnati.
The Hogs battle Texas A&M and Alabama at home, but the games are back-to-back. Road games versus Mississippi State and BYU aren’t slam dunks.
Best case scenario is that Arkansas wins seven games. An eight victory appears out of reach. The recommendation is to go under the total.
