Okay NASCAR fans and betting enthusiasts, with the 2019 NASCAR rolling right along and heading into Illinois for the Camping World 400, it’s time to offer up some expert predictions on the five drivers that are looking good as we get set for the 17th race of the year.

The 2019 Camping World 400 will be going down at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois on Sunday, June 30 at 3:00 PM ET. Currently second in the NASCAR standings by just one point, 2018 Camping World 400 winner Kyle Busch is the prohibitive favorite, followed by veteran Kevin Harvick, 2017 NASCAR champ Martin Truex Jr. and fellow veteran Brad Keselowski while current NASCAR points leader Joey Logano rounds out the top five favorites.

Let’s take a look past some of the past winners and the NASCAR odds to win this year’s event before getting to my top five picks to win and cash in this coming weekend.

Top Five Picks

No. 5 Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick tied for the NASCAR lead in victories a year ago with an impressive eight and although he’s yet to find the winner’s circle this year, Harvick is still in third place in the standings with five Top 5 finishes and 11 Top 10 finishes which ties Joey Logano for the second most Top 10s. Harvick has won this race twice (2001, 2002) and he’s clearly overdue for a victory. He might not be the overall favorite, but there’s a reason he’s the No. 2 pick on the odds board.

No. 4 Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin has a pair of victories this season, seven Top 5 finishes and 10 Top 10 finishes as he sits in sixth place in the NASCAR standings. Hamlin won this event in 2015 and he’s got the look of a driver that’s ‘due’ for a win, seeing as he hasn’t taken a checkered flag since winning in Texas on March 31. Hamlin has an average finish of 4.8 in his last five appearances at the Chicagoland Speedway and that means he’s going to have a legitimate shot at winning outright, even if he is my No. 4 pick to do so.

No. 3 Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch might be in second place by one point to Joey Logano, but he’s also tied for the most wins this year (4) while also recording a NASCAR-leading 10 Top 5 finishes and mind-boggling 15 Top 10 finishes. Busch is also the defending champion at this event and also won this race back in 2008. In addition to all of this, Busch has also experienced some success on this track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. Still, he’s my No. 3 pick, even though he could easily pass as anyone’s top pick.

No. 2 Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski has three victories this year, one behind Kyle Busch and the aforementioned Martin Truex Jr. In addition to that, the veteran, who currently sits in fourth place in the NASCAR standings, also has a half-dozen Top 5 finishes and eight Top 10 finishes. Keselowski won this race in 2014 and 2012 and he looks like he’s due for a win after not finding his way into the winner’s circle since May 11.

No. 1 Martin Truex Jr.

Martin Truex Jr. is heating up right along with the summer temperatures. The 2017 NASCAR champ won last weekend at Sonoma to claim his second checkered flag in the last four weeks. Truex Jr. is now tied with a NASCAR-leading four victories this year to go along with seven Top 5 finishes and 10 Top 10 finishes. In addition to that, Truex Jr. is a two-time winner of this event and that makes him my top pick to win in Illinois this weekend.
