Which of the under +1000 drivers: Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, or Brad Keselowski, has the best shot at winning the 2019 Food City 500?
Kyle Busch won this race last year. Plus, he’s in really good form, finishing tenth last week at Texas Motor Speedway, but fellow Joe Gibbs racer Denny Hamlin won the O’Reilly Auto Parts 400 last Sunday. What it means is that although Kyle could most definitely take the checkered flag on April 7, he’s a tough driver to back at the odds. Any driver offering +250 to win any NASCAR race would be tough to back. Busch did win the Food City 500 last year. It was his first Food City 500 win since 2011. Kyle’s a throw out to make it back-to-back.
That leaves us with Larson, Logano, and Keselowski. Of those three, Larson most definitely deserves the most consideration. Kyle finished second in last year’s Food City 500. Not only that, he’s driven exceptionally well in the Xfinity Races, and should turn his Monster Energy Cup form around soon.
Which driver at +1200 to +1800 can win on Sunday?
Aric Almirola hasn’t yet won a NASCAR Monster Energy Cup race this year. Based on his current form, it should only be a matter of time. Almirola’s only finished out of the Top 10 once this year and that was the Dayton 500 way back on Feb. 17. He finished seventh last week at Texas, ninth the week before at Martinsville, and ninth the week before that at California.
He also won the pole at Atlanta in late February before finishing eighth. Almirola finished sixth at last year’s Food City 500. He should at least hit the Top 10 again. If things go his way in the final 30 to 50 laps, he could take the checkered flag.
Is there a +2500 or higher underdog that can win the 2019 Food City 500 on April 7?
Jimmie Johnson’s burned us so many times the past couple of years, it’s hard to back the 6-time NASCAR Cup winner no matter where he drives. But, the stars might finally align for JJ and crew chief Kevin Meendering on Sunday.
Jimmie finished third at the 2018 Food City 500. Not only that, but he also led 60 laps after winning the pole at last week’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. JJ and Meendering are sitting on a win. That win could happen at Bristol on April 7.
