Is Marc Marquez truly worth backing at the odds to win the 2019 San Marino MotoGP?
The answer is most definitely “no”. Marquez can win, but the odds are ridiculously low for Marquez to win. More importantly, Marc Marquez has finished second in the last couple of Moto Grand Prix events.
At the Austrian MotoGP back on August 11, Marquez finished .213 seconds behind Andrea Dovizioso. That’s a slim margin, but it still knocked the favorite to second place on the championship podium.
Then, in the last MotoGP race, the British Moto Grand Prix, Marquez lost again. This time, Marc finished second to Alex Rins. Rins beat Marquez by .013 seconds. Again, excruciatingly close, but close enough to where Marquez lost the race.
Take the short odds if you want, but know this, Marc Marquez hasn’t won the last two Moto Grand Prix races. Yes, the losses have been by the slimmest of margins, but they’re still losses.
Can Andrea Dovizioso upset Marquez? If not Dovizioso will Petrucci, Rins, or Vinales step in his way?
Dovizioso didn’t finish at the British MotoGP. Three’s a chance he returns to form. It’s hard to say if he will, though. Plus, he offers the lowest odds on the board after Marc Marquez.
Rins most definitely can keep it going. At the Austrian Moto Grand Prix, he finished a decent sixth. He put it all together at the British MGP. Alex should be at the top of his game in San Marino. So, back if you believe he can win two in a row.
Another rider to consider backing is Maverick Vinales. Vinales finished third at the British Moto Grand Prix. Before that, he finished fifth in Austria. Vinales finished second to Marquez at the German MotoGP. Maverick could take his first victory this season on Sunday.
Is there a rider at 6-digit odds that has any shot of winning the 2019 San Marino MotoGP?
Fabio Quartararo didn’t finish at the British MGP. If we throw that race out, his form actually isn’t all that bad. Quartararo finished third at the Austrian MotoGP. He finished seventh at the Czech Republic Moto Grand Prix.
That doesn’t mean he’s a lock to even finish in the Top 10 on Sunday. But, if you’re looking to back a serious dog with some potential, Fabio Quartararo is the guy.
