MotoGP Argentina GP Betting Favorites, Analysis & Prediction

It is still way too early in the season to start making bold statements about how things might go in MotoGP this year, as we are just about to head into the 2nd race of 21. There is a lot that can change between then and now, so, to use an old cliché, we are going to take it one race at a time until we begin to get a clearer picture. What we do know is that the opening race of the season delivered a familiar winner, as well as some controversy surrounding one of the best the sport has ever seen. We will get to all of that in just a moment as we take a look at some of the MotoGP betting favorites who might be in contention this weekend in Argentina, so let’s go ahead and try to break it all down.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for the Gran Premio de la República Argentina

Francesco Bagnaia

Last year, it took Bagnaia some time to get hot, but once he did, he took control and never really looked back on his way to a World Championship. He is not messing around this year, though, as he came storming out of the gate to win the opening race in Portugal. Compare that to the fact that it took 6 races for him to get his first win in 2022 and you get the idea that this a man not ready to give up the title without a fight. Last year, Bagnaia finished 5th in this race, so maybe we can expect better this time around.

Fabio Quartararo

I was initially going to have 8-time champion Marc Marquez in this spot, but after a crash in the opening race in Portugal, he is going to need to sit this race out before serving a penalty in the next one. In fairness, Quartararo would have made this list regardless, as he has become one of the top racers in the sport. He won his first World Championship in 2021 and followed that up with a 2nd place finish last season. It makes sense that he will be in the hunt again this year despite finishing 8th in Round 1. That was exactly where he finished in his last run in Argentina.

Maverick Vinales

With 4 racers out through injury after the horrific crash in Portugal in Round 1, the door is open for someone to take advantage of those absences. Vinales has not had the best of it in recent seasons, but a 2nd place run in Portugal may just be a sign that he is about to recover his form. He finished 7th in Argentina last season, but I think that with some top racers missing, he might just be able to improve on that and get himself on the podium for the 2nd straight race.

Jorge Martin

This is the 3rd full season in MotoGP for Martin, who will be looking for a bit of a breakout season after finishing 9th overall in each of his first 2 years at the top level. Again, having some top racers out of the field might help his cause this weekend, and he could certainly use a good run after failing to finish in Portugal. He ran 2nd in Argentina last year, so he is definitely worth a look.
