BMW M Styrian GP Analysis – MotoGP Betting

Written by on August 20, 2020

We are now 4 races into the 2020 MotoGP season, and it looks as though we might well be in for a bit of a battle to win it all this time around. While fans of the sport are sure to be missing Marc Marquez, who has now missed three straight races through injury, his absence means that some other drive might actually be able to land a World Championship this season. Marquez is likely to return in September, although probably much too late to be a factor in the driver standings. This weekend, we will see the second straight MotoGP race in Austria, with the Styrian Grand Prix the next one up. Let’s take a closer look at some of the favorites for this one to take the checkered flag so you can place your bets against their MotoGP odds.

MotoGP 2020 BMW M Styrian Grand Prix

Andrea Dovizioso

One of the least surprising things about last week’s Austrian Grand Prix was that it was the Italian who took the checkered flag. In his last 4 races in Austria he has won 3 times, finishing third in the only race that he did not win. That makes him a definite favorite again this weekend. It also means that we are getting a tighter battle at the top of the driver standings, with Dovizioso sitting in second and closing the gap on Fabio Quartararo. If he wins again on Sunday, things are going to tighten up even further.

Pol Espargaro

While Espargaro has yet to pick up a win in his time in MotoGP, you have to think that when he breaks his goose egg, it might well come in Austria. In his last two seasons in Moto2, before moving up to the next level, he won back to back races in Austria, so he certainly seems to enjoy racing there. He was off to a decent start this season, but he has been forced to retire in each of his last 2 races. The bookies may have him among the favorites, but I think he is a longshot this weekend.

Fabio Quartararo

No rider got off to a hotter start this season than the Frenchman, but he has slowed down over the last couple of weeks. Quartararo opened the season with back to back wins, but he has failed to make the podium in each of his last two races, finishing 7th in the Czech Republic and 8th last weekend on the very course that he will race on again on Sunday. While the lead is shortening, he still holds the top spot in the driver standings.

Jack Miller

The Australian racer is coming off his best season in MotoGP, finishing 8th in the standings overall. If his performances this season are anything to go by, he may well be on pace to better that in 2020. He is coming off his best performance of the season, finishing 3rd in the Austrian Grand Prix, which moved him up to 7th in the standings. He is definitely worth a look, as this looks like a racer very much on the brink of a breakout type of season.
