NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Expert Picks for 2016

Written by on July 27, 2016

The NASCAR season is coming down to the wire, with only 6 races remaining before The Chase begins. The first of those 6 races will come this weekend at Pocono, with the Pennsylvania 400 next up on the racing calendar. The drivers will have to go 160 laps at The Tricky Triangle this weekend, and this will actually be their second visit to Pocono this season. The Axalta 400 was the last race run there, and the winner at that event was Kurt Busch. Could he do it again, or will Matt Kenseth be able to repeat after winning this event last year? Maybe it will be someone else who steps up to defy the NASCAR betting odds to take the checkered flag on Sunday. Let’s take a look at some of the drivers that you should consider when placing your potential winning ticket.

In Depth Analysis On The NASCAR Pennsylvania 400 Expert Picks

Matt Kenseth

This is my pick to win this weekend, and not just because he is coming in as the defending champion. Matt Kenseth has been dominant when racing over flat tracks at Pocono, New Hampshire, and Indianapolis. He has an average finishing position of 5th at those tracks over the last 3 races at each, which is the best of any of the drivers running this weekend. Kenseth is top 10 in the driver standings this year, and will almost certainly cement a finish in that spot with a win at Pocono this weekend.

Kevin Harvick

This is a driver who would be having a much better season were it not for the mistakes routinely being made by his pit crew. He has one of the fastest cars in NASCAR, and there is no reason why he can’t get to the front and lead the way. He has average in the top 10 in flat tracks on a regular basis, and with a little bit of luck, as well as no mistakes from his pit crew, Harvick should be a legitimate challenger.

Kurt Busch

He has 3 career wins at Pocono, with the most recent coming just a few short weeks ago. You also have to consider that he has finished in the top 5 in 4 of the last 5 races he has run at this track. That makes him a genuine threat, and one that you really cannot ignore when it comes times to wager. Kurt Busch is sure to be up among the favorites in the live odds, and a very solid bet.

Brad Keselowski

He was on a tear earlier in the season with back to back wins at Daytona and Kentucky, but he has since cooled off a little. Pocono may be the track where he can start to get hot again, as he has finished in the top 3 the last two times he has raced there. This seems to be a track that he likes racing at, which is always a recipe for success. There are some other guys who are worthy of your consideration, but I am going to have to put my money on Matt Kenseth.
