After 12 races of the 2021 NASCAR season, we might just be beginning to see a potential champion emerge, although we also thought that last year with Kevin Harvick. Martin Truex Jr. is the driver who is beginning to put together a run, as he now leads in wins on the season. it is a long year, though, so as good as he is now, it is consistency that gets you to the top. This weekend, the drivers will be in Dover for the Drydene 400, and given how things have gone this season, anyone could come out and win this thing. Let’s, though, take a moment to look at some of the favorites for Sunday’s race so you can bet against their NASCAR odds.
NASCAR Cup Series Betting Analysis for Drydene 400 Race
Martin Truex Jr. (+320)
Given what we just told you in the opening of this preview, it probably isn’t that surprising to learn that Truex Jr. is the favorite heading into this weekend. While he is not yet at the top of the driver standings, falling just short of Denny Hamlin’s point total, you feel that it’s only a matter of time before he gets there. Truex Jr. has already amassed 3 wins this season, which is the best of any driver, and it feels like there is more to come. Seeing him win at Dover would not be a surprise, as he has a win and a trio of 2nd place finishes there in his last 4 runs. He looks to be the man to beat on Sunday.
Kyle Larson (+350)
When you consider that Larson came into the season with no sponsors after being suspended for the majority of 2020, you have to say that his current 6th place standing is more than a little impressive. He has a win and 7 top 10 finishes, 5 of which were top 5, this season, and you would like him to add to that tally this weekend. He last raced at Dover in 2019, picking up the win in that one. He has also landed in the top 5 in 4 of his last 6 races at this track, so there is every reason to believe he will be among the leaders in the later stages of this race.
Denny Hamlin (+600)
We are 12 races into the season and essentially looking at a carbon copy of what Hamlin delivered in 2020. While he has yet to win a race this year, Hamlin has been the most consistent driver to this point, which is why he is still sitting atop the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Hamlin has a staggering 9 top 5 finishes out of the 12 races this season, so you definitely get the sense that his first win of the year will be coming sooner rather than later. Hamlin won one of the two races at Dover last season, so this might well be the place where he gets that first win.
Kevin Harvick (+650)
It has been a slower start to the season for the man that led most of the way last year before going off the boil in the playoffs. Harvick has been a consistent top 10 performer this season, but his first win is proving to be elusive. Dover is a track that he absolutely seems to love, so this might well be the weekend where Harvick makes his move. He won there last year, as well as in 2018, and he has been top 5 in 5 of his last 6 races at that track.
