It’s All-Star Weekend time in NASCAR this weekend, and while the Cup Series drivers will be essentially racing for fun, those in the Truck Series will be going after valuable points in the SpeedyCash.com 220. With 10 races in the books, we have a tight battle at the top of the driver standings, with the race for playoff spots beginning to look as though it will go down to the final week of the season. There are a lot of races still to come before we get to that point, though, so let’s focus on one race at a time, starting with the big Saturday event in Texas. John H. Nemechek (+275)

It has been a fantastic season thus far for Nemechek, as he sits atop the driver standings after picking up the most wins (3) to this point in the year. He is in as the favorite for the SpeedyCash.com 220, as you will see when we highlight some of the other favorites, but he is certainly deserving of the role of bookies choice this weekend. His 3^rd win of the season came last weekend in Charlotte, and while it is always tough to win back-to-back races, his current form suggests that it is certainly not impossible. Given that Nemechek has driven sparingly in the Truck Series, there is not much to go on in terms of his performance on the Texas track.

Chase Elliott (+325)

It is always fun to see the top Cup Series drivers pop into the trucks for a run, but it does also make handicapping those races a little tougher. This weekend, we have defending Cup Series champion Chase Elliott making a run in the Truck Series ahead of the All-Star Race. Given how sparingly he races at this level, it is tough to give an accurate assessment of how things might go this weekend, but we do have some info that we can look at. Over the past two seasons, Elliott has raced in a truck 5 times, winning twice and landing in the top 5 in all but 1 of those races. That is a strong pedigree.

Sheldon Creed (+600)

Last season, Creed won the Truck Series championship after getting hot in the second half of the season. What should be scary to the other drivers right now is that Creed is following a very similar pattern to what he delivered last season. This is not to suggest that he has guaranteed wins coming his way, but it is tough to imagine him going the rest off the way without adding to his lone win this season. When he got hot at the tail end of last season, he won 2 of the last 3 races, with one of those wins coming at Texas, so certainly worth a look here.

Austin Hill (+700)

While Austin Hill has not made a habit of racking up wins in the Truck Series, he is usually good for 2 or 3 victories per season. The fact that he has yet to win his first of the 2021 campaign might well be viewed as a sign that he is past due for a win. He does have a trio of podium finishes to his name and he did finish 2^nd in his last run on the Texas Motor Speedway, so might this be the weekend when he finally breaks his goose egg?
