Justin Allgaier
Allgaier is sitting in sixth place in the standings with six Top-10 finishes and two Top-5 finishes. While he’s yet to taste victory in 2020, Allgaier finished sixth at Pocono Raceway two weeks ago before finishing seventh in last weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Maybe it’s me, but I’m going with Allgaier to challenge for the outright win.
Harrison Burton
Burton is seventh in the Xfinity standings with 10 Top-10 finishes in 13 starts. Burton has also racked up an impressive seven Top-5 finishes while taking the checkered flag at California in February and Miami on June 13. Sure, Burton has a pair of identical 32nd place finishes and a 25th place finish last weekend, but that just makes me believe that Burton is ‘due’ for a win this coming weekend.
Ross Chastain
Chastain is currently in third place in the Xfinity standings with an Xfinity-best, 11 Top-10 finishes and four, Top-5 finishes. While Chastain is still in search of his first victory this year, he comes into this weekend’s event riding the wave of a fantastic six-race streak of Top-10 finishes, while finishing third, second, second and sixth in his last four races. No doubt, Chastain will have a shot at taking the checkered flag in Kentucky.
Chase Briscoe
The prohibitive favorite and Xfinity standings leader has recorded 10, Top-10 finishes, seven Top-5 finishes and a series-best five victories. Briscoe has won two straight races and three of the last four including last weekend’s straight-up thrilling finish at Indianapolis. Briscoe has six Top-10 finishes in his last seven races and will have a great shot to make it three straight, even if he isn’t my top pick to win the Shady Rays 200.
Noah Gragson
Gragson is sitting in second place in the standings with 10 Top-10 finishes, a series-high eight, Top-5 finishes and a pair of wins at the season-opener in Daytona and Bristol on June 1. Gragson has five Top-10 finishes in his last seven races and comes into this event off an encouraging third place finish in Indianapolis last weekend. I’m going with Gragson as my top pick to get the win in the 2020 Shady Rays 200!
