Bellator 243: Chandler vs. Henderson 2 Odds & Picks

Written by on August 6, 2020

It’s a big weekend for MMA fans, as we have a double bill of action split between Bellator and the UFC. Best of all, there will be fights on back to back nights, with Bellator 243 set to go on Friday night, while the UFC will be hosting their next Fight Night event on Saturday. We will have you covered for both events, but for the purposes of this piece, we are going to focus on Bellator 243. This event is taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut and can be seen on the DAZN Network, with the main card set to get started at 10 PM. There is a total of 4 fights on the main card and we are going to take a closer look at them all, along with their MMA odds.

Bellator 243: Chandler vs. Henderson 2 Odds & Picks

Sabah Homasi (+285) Vs Curtis Millender (-355)

The main card opens with a contractweight fight between Homasi and Millender, both of whom have been somewhat inconsistent in their pro careers. Homasi comes into this fight with a 13-8 record, but he has been putting things together of late, winning each of his last 2 fights. His last win took him just 17 seconds to finish. Millender is 18-5 and on the road to bouncing back after 2 straight defeats at the UFC level. He won his last fight via unanimous decision, but I think he gets this one over with early to record his second straight win.

Myles Jury (-220) Vs Georgi Karakhanyan (+180)

It is the lightweights who are up for the second fight of the night, with Myles Jury looking to potentially work his way back to the UFC. He dropped back down to the Bellator ranks after losing back to back fights under the UFC banner. He lost his first fight on his return to Bellator, but he bounced back with a win in his last fight. Karakhanyan is just 3-4 in his last 7 fights, although he is coming off a submission win in his last fight to go 28-10-1 in his career. Jury just has that little bit more pedigree, so I’m taking hm to win this one.

Matt Mitrione (-125) Vs Timothy Johnson (+105)

The big boys will step into the octagon for a heavyweight bout, with both of these fighters needing a positive result after a poor run of form. Mitrione was very much on the brink of a title shot in the heavyweight division, but 3 losses and a no contest in is his last 4 fights have him now heading in the wrong direction. Johnson is coming off a win in his last fight, bur like Mitrione, recent results have not been very good at all. There is going to be a little bit of desperation here for both men, but I think it will be Mitrione who gets the win.

Michael Chandler (-225) Vs Benson Henderson (+185)

Both of these fighters have had success at the lightweight division across several different companies and both are looking to work their way into a title shot with a win here. Chandler won the last meeting with Henderson via a split decision and is now on a run where he has won 3 of hos last 4 fights. Henderson has won 5 of his last 6, including back to back wins over Myles Jury and Adam Piccolotti. The last meeting was close, but I think Chandler wins this one with the submission.
