Written by on January 29, 2018

If you’re an MMA betting enthusiast that is looking forward to the month of February, then you should know that it looks like a fun-filled and potentially profitable month just waiting to happen! I’m highlighting three intriguing matchups that will all take place in February, including the opening MMA odds. Two are UFC 221 bouts and the other is a Bellator 194 heavyweight matchup. Let’s get started.

Top MMA Betting Picks & Predictions for February’s Action

UFC 221

Yoel Romero (12-2) vs. Luke Rockhold (16-3)

  • When: February 10, 2018
  • MMA Betting Odds: Yoel Romero -115 / Luke Rockhold -105
The top-ranked contender there is, Yoel “The Soldier of God” Romero is a 40-year-old monster that hails from Cuba and stands 6-feet tall with a 73.5-inch reach. Romero had won eight straight fights via KO or TKO until suffering a unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC 213 via back in July. The second-ranked Rockhold is 33-years-old and hails from California while standing 6-3 with a 77-inch reach. Rockhold bounced back from a KO (punches) loss against Michael Bisping at UFC 199 in June of 2016 to beat David Branch via submission (punches) at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Branch in September. I’m just going to get to the point by saying that Yoel Romero just looks like the kind of guy that you just don’t want to meet in a dark alley. Luke Rockhold is going to find that out – the hard way at UFC 221! Pick: Yoel Romero via second-round KO (Punches and Kicks)

Mark Hunt (13-11) vs. No. 9 Curtis Blaydes (8-1)

  • When: February 10, 2018
  • MMA Betting Odds: TBA
The 43-year-old Mark Hunt is a New Zealand native that is the No. 5 heavyweight contender who stands 5-10 with a 74-inch reach. He’s is coming off a fourth-round TKO (punches) win over Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Lewis in June that came on the heels of his third round KO (knees) loss against Alistair Overeem at UFC 209 in March. Curtis Blaydes should be one of your MMA Betting Picks in February. 26-year-old Curtis Blaydes is a Chicago native who has only lost once in his career and enters this bout coming off a second-round TKO (doctor stoppage) win over Oleksiy Oliynyk at UFC 217 in November. I hate to see an ‘old man’ get beat down, but fighting is for younger guys! Mark Hunt is going down – and going down hard! Pick: Curtis Blaydes via third-round KO (Punches)

Bellator 194

Matt Mitrione vs. Roy Nelson

  • When: February 16, 2018
  • MMA Betting Odds: Matt Mitrione -170 / Roy Nelson +150
Analysis: 39-year-old Matt Mitrione (12-5) has won three straight fights after losing his previous two bouts and beat Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator NYC in June via first-round KO (punches). 41-year-old Roy Nelson recorded a unanimous decision win over Javy Ayala at Bellator 183 in September to rebound from his unanimous decision loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC on FOX: Johnson vs. Reis in April. While Nelson has gone 3-5 in his last eight MMA bouts, he did manage to beat the hell out of Matt Mitrione at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. team Nelson way back in December of 2012. If you look at these two aging fighters right now, it’s pretty evident that Matt Mitrione is in better shape than Roy Nelson, who looks like he should probably hang it up right about now. However, Nelson doesn’t just bow out easily as each of his last four losses have all come by way of unanimous decision. Still, Nelson has alternated wins and losses over his last six bouts and Matt Mitrione wants revenge. Mitrione is getting up there, but he’ll get this win – via unanimous decision! Pick: Matt Mitrione via unanimous decision
