AP Top 25 College Football Poll Week 6

The most important matchup of the 2024 College Football Season so far happened in week 5 when the Georgia Bulldogs threw down against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The game turned out to be an instant classic after the Dawgs fought back from a 0-28 deficit to briefly take the lead over the Tide.

Alabama prevailed, though, which is the reason they’re number 1 in the latest AP Poll.

Check out more information on this week’s Associated Press College Football Poll as well as analysis.

After Beating Georgia, Bama Climbs to Number 1

Georgia stepped onto the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa a -2.5 road favorite.

The home team handed Kirby Smart’s second ranked squad their first loss of the season.

Kalen DeBoer’s Bama squad impressed so much that the AP decided to leapfrog the Tide over the Texas Longhorns and rank Alabama first.

Texas is second, Ohio State third, and Tennessee fourth.

Georgia fell from second to fifth after Carson Beck threw a late interception to help the Tide seal the victory.

What impresses so much about Alabama’s win is that when the Dawgs took the lead, Bama didn’t panic.

Instead, the Tide retook the lead, which tells us they have the ability to face adversity and get it done.

Ohio State is at +370 and Alabama at +380 to Win the National Championship

The Ohio State Buckeyes entered College Football Week 5 the favorite to win the National Championship.

After Alabama’s victory over Georgia, the Buckeyes continue to be the chalk to take home the title, but they’re not a massive chalk over second choice Bama.

The Crimson Tide offer +10 more in a payout than Ohio State.

One of the reasons the Buckeyes are the favorite is because the Big Ten doesn’t appear to have the talent that the SEC possesses.

While Michigan, USC, Penn State, and Oregon are quality teams, Ohio State looks much better than any of those four rivals.

The Buckeyes play Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan this season.

If Ohio State runs the table, there’s a good chance they remain the favorite to win it all heading into the College Football Playoff.

Alabama plays LSU, Tennessee, and Oklahoma the rest of the way.

Tennessee ranks fourth on the AP Poll.

If Bama beats the Vols in Tennessee, and both are undefeated at the time, Bama could leapfrog the Buckeyes depending on Ohio State’s margin of victory versus their ranked opponents.

Either way, Ohio State and Alabama should fight during the rest of the season for National Championship favoritism.

So if you like the odds on either, pull the trigger because both look like solid plays to win the title.

Jalen Milroe Becomes the +225 Fave to Win the Heisman

While Ohio State remains the favorite to win the title, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has become the chalk to take home the Heisman.

Milroe has been unreal in Kalen DeBoer’s quarterback heavy offensive system.

Milroe threw his first interception of the season against Georgia in Bama’s 41-34 victory.

Nobody cares about the pick because Jalen also tossed TDs, completed over 80% of his passes, and threw for 374 yards.

He also rushed for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns versus one of the nation’s top offenses.

Overall, Milroe has thrown for 964 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He’s rushed for 273 yards, a 5.3 per carry average, and 8 rushing TDs.

Unless he suffers and injury, Milroe should have the Heisman Trophy in the bag.

Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia Means the SEC Boasts Four Teams in the Top 5

In addition to Alabama at 1, Texas is at 2, Tennessee at 4, and Georgia at 5 in this week’s AP Poll.

The SEC continues to show the most strength of any Power 4 Conference.

Texas faces Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry on Oct 12.

Alabama takes on Vanderbilt this Saturday while Georgia hosts Auburn.

Tennessee is at Arkansas.

If Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee win, there won’t be much change in next week’s AP Poll because the Longhorns have a bye this week.

Ole Miss Tumbles After Kentucky Loss and Things Could Get Worse After Saturday

One SEC team that has fallen from the Top 10 are the Ole Miss Rebels.

Lane Kiffin’s squad failed to pass the test in their first game versus a quality opponent.

Up until last Saturday’s game versus Kentucky, the Rebels had faced Furman , Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Georgia Southern.

Ole Miss looked unbeatable versus those four cupcake programs.

But against Kentucky, the Rebels failed at home when losing 20-17.

Ole Miss faces South Carolina on the road this Saturday.

The line opened at Gamecocks +10.5 but has fallen to 1.5 points to South Carolina +9.

If Ole Miss falls to unranked South Carolina, Kiffin’s hopes of making the College Football Playoff could all but go up in smoke before it began.

Best Week 6 Games to Bet On From AP Poll 25 Ranked Teams

Previous Betting News

Another week in the books gives us more information to look at when we are approaching how to look at some of these college football programs. There are a lot of interesting matchups heading into Week 6 of the season so let’s discuss a few games that we should be eyeing in on in this game. Let’s get right to it so you can continue betting against the NCAA Football Odds.

Top 25 College Football Analysis and Betting Opportunities for Week 6 of the 2022 Season

8 Tennessee Volunteers vs 25 LSU Tigers (Saturday)

The eighth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers and the 25th-ranked LSU Tigers are very similar programs so far as the Vols are 4-0 (1-0) while the Tigers are 4-1 (2-0) heading into this matchup. However, this will be the toughest game on the schedule thus far for LSU, while this is the third time that Tennessee has faced a ranked opponent this season. Senior quarterback Hendon Hooker has a 90 QBR, which is fifth in the nation for Tennessee, while junior quarterback Jayden Daniels has a 79.6 QBR, which ranks 20th. These teams are similar, but Tennessee is just a bit better. The road team is 6-0-2 against the spread in their last eight games against one another. All in all, go with the Tennessee Volunteers being favored on the road by less than a field goal.

11 Utah Utes vs 18 UCLA Bruins (Saturday)

The 11th-ranked Utah Utes will be heading to the Rose Bowl to take on the 18th-ranked UCLA Bruins in a Pac-12 Conference matchup. UCLA has been proving they are a serious threat, with Chip Kelly calling the shots. Both offenses have been dominant, while the defense has been shutting the door on giving up points. Utah is very dependent on the running game behind junior running back Tavion Thomas as he is averaging 4.4 yards per carry, but UCLA is sixth in the entire country, allowing just 80.4 rushing yards per game. The Bruins are being considered to be a four-point home underdog in this matchup, and go with them getting points to cover the spread against an extremely talented Utes program.

Army Black Knights vs 15 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (Saturday)

The Army Black Knights are struggling this season with a 1-3 record and are taking on the 15th-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who are 4-1 themselves. Both offenses have been doing well, and obviously; the Black Knights are going to run the football as they lead the nation with 369.8 rushing yards per game. Junior quarterback Sam Hartman has been doing extremely well for the Demon Deacons as he has an 8:0 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his last two games, but he is not going to get the football as often as he typically does with a run-based attack on the opposite sidelines keeping the clock going and less total plays throughout the game. The spread is currently being listed as Wake Forest being favored by 16.5 points at home, but that feels like too much as I smell upset brewing here. Give me Army with the points, but do not be completely shocked if they win outright.
