Maurice Hooker vs Alex Saucedo

Maurice Hooker, 24-0-3, owns the WBO Junior Lightweight belt. Since a draw against Darley’s Perez back in 2016, Hooker has won 3 straight, beating Cristobal Cruz, Courtney Jackson, and then 33-0 Terry Flanagan.

Hooker faces a top prospect in Alex Saucedo, though. The 28-year-old Saucedo got his start sparring with Manny Pacquiao in 2012. In fact, Pacquiao got such great work from Saucedo that he turned Bob Arum onto the young fighter.

Arum, who runs Top Rank, signed Saucedo. At 28-0 Saucedo’s a veritable veteran in the ring. He’ll beat Maurice Hooker on Friday night and stamp himself as one of the top up and coming fighters in the game.

Boxing Betting Pick: Alex Saucedo

Eigidijus Kavaliauskas vs Roberto Arriaza

20-0 Eigidijus Kavaliauskas fights out of Oxnard, California after coming to the U.S. from Lithuania. He’s got a lot of ability and hopes to secure a championship title spot with a win over Roberto Arriaza on ESPN’s Friday Night Fight’s undercard.

Arriaza is also undefeated. He’s not nearly as highly-regarded as Kavaliauskas, though. Eigidijus should knock out Arriaza, maybe a round 6 or 7 technical KO, to set up a major championship bout with pound-for-pound king Terrence Crawford.

Boxing Betting Pick: Eigidijus Kavaliasukas

Saturday, Nov. 17

Jarrell Miller vs Bogdan Dinu

Although undefeated at 22-0-1, Miller has never fought anyone of note. He battles Bogdan Dinu, also undefeated at 18-0, on Saturday night during Showtime’s televised boxing event. Which undefeated fighter has the edge?

Visually, Big Baby Miller looks to have the faster hands. Because Dinu prefers to move forward with his left down, like so many heavyweights with power do, Miller could take advantage. He should catch Dinu coming in and then possibly knock out the undefeated Romanian in the 3rd or 4th round.

Boxing Betting Pick: Jarell Miller

Brandon Rios vs Ramon Alvarez

At one point during his career Brandon Rios was a headliner. He’d be the man we’d discuss on any televised boxing event. Now at 34-4-1, Rios heads to the ring to battle Ramon Alvarez having lost 2-of-3.  Before talking about Rios’ demise, though, let’s not forget that he lost the fights to Timothy Bradley Jr. and Danny Garcia.

But, Ramon Alvarez is a hard knocker who will have a shot against Rios on Saturday. Alvarez has strung together 3 wins in a row. If Rios doesn’t come with his “A” game, he could lose again. My thinking’s that Rios might just not be what he used to after so many tough fights.

Backing Alvarez makes sense.

Boxing Betting Pick: Ramon Alvarez

Claressa Shields vs Hannah Rankin

You might not find odds on this fight because Shields is such a huge favorite, but it’s worth mentioning that the most impressive women boxer since Laila Ali fights on Saturday night on the Miller vs Dinu undercard.

Claressa Shields should punish Hannah Rankin and impress again. Rankin’s a decent fighter, but she’s not on Shields’ level. If you want action on the fight to just have someone to root for, and if odds are set, back Rankin.

But, unless Shields beats herself in some way, she’ll dominate Rankin.

Boxing Betting Pick: Claressa Shields
