Jake Paul successfully beat Ben Askren in his major exhibition bout. Now brother Logan hopes to follow in Jake’s footsteps. No doubt, though, Logan fights the tougher opponent in one of the greatest boxers in history, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Check out an update on Mayweather versus Paul so you can continue planning your bets against their Floyd Mayweather odds.
Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul Finally Set a Date for their Fight
Floyd Mayweather Jr. Vs Logan Paul Odds & Fight
- When: Saturday, June 6
- Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
- Boxing Odds: Mayweather -700 / Paul +275
Why did Floyd and Logan finally set a date for the fight?
Rumors abound, but really, the delay was about money. Mayweather wanted to make sure he could squeeze as many dollars from the event as possible, which is why Showtime PPV has gotten involved. Instead of the fight being a Fanmio event, Showtime, which is the leader in broadcasting pay-per-view boxing matches, has added gravitas.
All of it is good news for both Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul. The young YouTube star knows he’s in deep facing one of the greatest boxers of all time. But he also knows that even if he loses, he’s going to make more money off a single boxing match than he has his entire life.
Floyd and his confidante, Al Haymon, decided to postpone the bout “indefinitely” until they could hash out details that made everyone involved, including Logan Paul and his team, rich. Also, Mayweather Jr. wanted to see if Logan’s brother, Jake Paul, could get past Ben Askren.
If Jake had lost to Askren, Mayweather Jr. may have decided on a different opponent. Since the younger Paul beat the former collegiate wrestling champ, Floyd felt it a good time to set a date and venue.
Will fans be in attendance?
Yes. That’s one of the reasons Mayweather Jr. and Paul decided to wait until summer. The fight had been scheduled for late February.
Mayweather and Paul wanted to ensure fans could watch the fight in-person. While the pandemic hasn’t stopped, cases haven’t risen much in Florida and the state is mostly open.
Can we learn anything from Jake Paul’s victory over Ben Askren that can help us determine the winner of Logan versus Floyd?
Nothing. Askren didn’t do what was required to hang with Jake Paul for more than a couple of minutes.
Floyd is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Ben Askren is a wrestler who tried to learn how to box in a few months.
Mayweather Jr. doesn’t take unnecessary risks. He wants to toy with Logan Paul and then toy with Jake Paul. Then, he will probably fight Oscar De La Hoya, the only fighter to give him a real challenge, in 2022.
Things don’t always work out as planned, though. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a great boxer, but Logan is much younger, much taller, and much bigger. Beating Paul may not be as easy as Mayweather and Haymon believe.
