PBC Boxing – Ortiz vs Martin

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 1
  • Where: Hollywood, FL
  • TV / Streaming: Fox PPV

Iago Kiladze +1100 vs Viktor Vykhryst -3000

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 1

Georgian boxer Iago Kiladze has a decent 27-5-1 record. Kiladze also has power as evidenced by his 19 knockout victories. But although Kiladze’s record implies he has a shot in this, the underdog is in horrible form. 4 of his 5 losses have happened in his last 6 bouts.

Undefeated Viktor Vykhryst has won all 8 of his bouts. The Ukrainian is trained well and has his sights set on a heavyweight title fight in the next couple of years. Vykhryst should knockout Kiladze. So look for a prop before dumping on the moneyline.

Boxing Pick: Viktor Vykhryst

Jonathan Rice -175 vs Michael Polite Coffie +145

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 1

This is a rematch of a bout that Rice won via TKO. In that fight, Coffie was undefeated with a 12-0 record.

Rice stopped Coffie to take his record to 14-6-1 with 10 knockout or technical knockout victories. In the first fight, Rice continually shot an overhand right that landed flush. Coffie must prevent that from happening to have any shot in this bout.

Coffie supposedly has the longer reach, but Rice has the better jab. The more experienced boxer, Coffie started fighting 4 years ago while Rice is a 7 year pro, should get the victory.

Boxing Pick: Jonathan Rice

Christian Hammer vs Frank Sanchez

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 1

Sanchez’s original opponent, Carlos Negron, tested positive for Covid, which is the reason 34-year-old veteran Christian Hammer steps into the ring against Frank Sanchez.

Sanchez, 19-0 with 13 knockout victories, should have no trouble beating Hammer. But although Christian shouldn’t win this fight, it doesn’t mean Sanchez gets the KO.

Hammer hung tough with Hughie Fury in his last, losing via referee technical decision. Also, Hammer has had enough fights, his record is 26-8, to give Sanchez some problems early in the bout.

Not only that, but Hammer hung with Luis Ortiz for 10 rounds. Experience matters in the heavyweight division. So expect a tough fight that could go the distance with Frank Sanchez ultimately grabbing the victory.

Boxing Pick: Frank Sanchez

Charles Martin +300 vs Luis Ortiz -400

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 1

Luis “King Kong” Ortiz has fought some of the best in the division. Deontay Wilder beat Ortiz twice. The Cuban heavyweight believes he deserves a title shot, which is why for the first time since a 2020 victory over Alexander Flores, Luis Ortiz will step back into the ring.

Charles Martin has a 28-2-1 record. Martin’s last loss was in 2018 versus Adam Kownacki. Since then, Martin has won 4 straight bouts. Martin looked great in his last fight, a TKO win against Gerald Washington.

Ortiz will be tough to beat. But we must question wether he can hang with a younger, more prolific fighter in Martin after a 2-year layoff. Martin is the pick.

Boxing Pick: Charles Martin
