Boxing Events
- When: Saturday, June 4 – Tuesday, June 6
Faroukh Kourbanov +500 vs Zelfa Barrett -1000
- Saturday, June 4
19-3 with 3 knockout wins, underdog Faroukh Kourbanov hopes to make boxing fans take notice when he battles well-regarded Zelfa Barrett. Kourbanov has fought almost exclusively in his native Germany.
The underdog has some talent. But he doesn’t have much shot versus the hard-hitting Barrett. Zelfa is 27-1 with 16 knockout or technical knockout victories. Barrett should have no trouble knocking out Kourbanov in this match.
Boxing Pick: Zelfa Barrett
Kenichi Ogawa +125 vs Joe Cordina -175
- Saturday, June 4
- IBF Jr. Lightweight Title
Ogawa versus Cordina should be a fantastic bout. Champion Kenichi Ogawa is 26-1-1 with 18 KO or TKO wins.
On Saturday, the champ faces favored and undefeated fighter Joe Cordina. The Cardiff, Wales born Cordina is 14-0 with 8 knockout or technical knockout victories. Cordina is a fantastic boxer.
Not only that, but this happens in Cardiff. So Ogawa will be at a disadvantage. However, Kenichi has more experience and he’s the champion. Cordina falls.
Boxing Pick: Kenichi Ogawa
Kalvin Henderson +1160 vs David Morrell -2230
- WBA Super Middleweight Title – Showtime
- Saturday, June 4
Henderson has an excellent 15-1-1 record with 11 knockout wins. So it makes sense if you question why he’s such a massive underdog versus David Morrell.
The favorite in this bout is 6-0 with 5 knockout wins. Morrell doesn’t have the professional experience. But he does have the amateur experience after having built a 49-5 record with 12 knockout wins. Morrell should make quick work of Henderson. Look for a KO prop before dumping on the chalk at the low odds.
Boxing Pick: David Morrell
Daniel Roman +425 vs Stephon Fulton -575
- Saturday, June 4
- WBC & WBO Jr. Featherweight Titles – Showtime
Roman’s 29-3-1 record makes him a worthy challenger to Stephon Fulton’s featherweight division dominance.
But Fulton is 20-0 with 8 TKO or KO wins. Not only that, but Fulton has a 1 ½ inches height advantage and a 2 ½ inches reach advantage. The chalk is one of the best boxers in the world. Fulton should handle Roman. Don’t expect a knockout win, though.
Boxing Pick: Stephon Fulton
Devin Haney -165 vs George Kambosos +140
- Saturday, June 4
- Undisputed Lightweight Title – ESPN
Devin Haney is one tough dude. Not only is he fighting George Kambosos, but he’s fighting Kambosos in George’s backward.
27-0 with 15 knockout or technical knockout wins. Haney isn’t scared of anybody. Every boxing fan on the planet respects how tough Devin Haney is.
But on Saturday night, he faces one of the most unique boxers in the game. Kambosos does things with his feet to a) soften his opponent’s punches and b) counter. George has become one of the top countering fighters in the sport. Haney tends telegraph his jab.
Devin is sound. Heck, he’s great. But Kambosos counters everything. So, eventually, Haney will be drawn into a brawl. The underdog wins this bout.
Boxing Pick: George Kambosos
Nonito Donaire +420 vs Naoya Inoue -570
- Wednesday, June 7 – 3:00 am ET – ESPN+
- WBA & WBC & IBF Bantamweight Titles
42-6 with 28 KO or TKO wins, challenger Nonito Donaire is already a legend. The Philippines born boxer is also one of the few to stand up to The Monster, Nayoa Inoue, when losing via unanimous decision in 2019.
Since then, Donaire has knocked out Nordine Oubaali and Reymart Gaballo. Inoue since then has become one of the pound-for-pound best in the world.
The Monster is 22-0 with 19 knockout or technical knockout wins. Inoue can pin-point a specific part on your body and make an accurate punch with power, which is why so many of his bouts have ended with his opponents grabbing where their livers exist writhing in pain.
Donaire won’t go down like that. But Inoue wins.
Boxing Pick: Nayoa Inoue
