Jose Antonio Meza +450 vs Jose Manuel Gomez -900
Jose Antonio Meza is 7-6 with 2 knockout wins. Gomez is undefeated with 12 victories. The young favorite has just 5 knockout wins to his credit, which means Meza has a shot. Still, it’s difficult to back a fighter who has lost 3-of-4. Gomez should win this via decision. So if you see a prop with better odds, go for it.
Boxing Pick: Jose Manuel Gomez
Gustavo David Vittori +1100 vs Rances Barthelemy -3000
25-9-1 Gustavo David Vittori has lost 4-of-6. The 32-year-old Argentinian did win his last fight. Unfortunately, Vittori has battled almost exclusively in South America. Beating and losing to South American boxers doesn’t often set up pugilists for success in fights in the U.S.
Rances Barthelemy is 28-1-1. Barthelemy is older than Vittori by 4 years. But he should have no trouble winning this. With that being written, if you want to take a shot against the 36-year-old chalk, now is the time to do it. Rances has fought just 3 times since 2018.
Boxing Pick: Gustavo David Vittori
Leonardo Baez +750 vs Rey Vargas -1500
Leonardo Baez is fighting better right now than he has during his entire career. With a 21-4 record and just 12 knockouts, you might question why we wrote that. The thing is, Baez is on a 3-fight winning streak and he’s won all three fights via technical knockout.
But Rey Vargas is 34-0 with 22 knockout win. Vargas is the more skilled fighter. He should win this no problem. Vargas hasn’t won a fight via TKO or KO since 2016, though. So we’ll take a shot on the dog.
Boxing Pick: Leonardo Baez
Elvis Rodriguez -200 vs Juan Pablo Romero +160
Rodriguez versus Romero should be one of the most entertaining fights of the night. Elvis is 11-1-1 with 12 knockout victories. Juan Pablo is 14-0 with 9 knockout wins.
The difference between the two is age. Romero is 31-years-old. Rodriguez is 25. Elvis lost his last fight to Kenneth Sims Jr.
Romero is a tough guy. Juan Pablo has a great chin. But Rodriguez lost to Sims because Kenneth outboxed him. Juan Pablo won’t outbox Elvis. Not only that, Elvis has more power. Expect a Rodriguez victory via TKO or KO.
Boxing Pick: Elvis Rodriguez
Anthony Dirrell -400 vs Marcos Hernandez +300
Dirrell has a great record, 33-2-2 with 24 knockout wins. The chalk can definitely box. Dirrell drew with Kyrone Davis in his last. It was Anthony’s first fight since a 2019 loss to undefeated champion David Benavidez.
Marcos Hernandez has a 15-4-2 record. He’s won 3 of his fights via TKO or KO. The record doesn’t imply Hernandez has any shot.
With that being written, Marcos heads into this off the best fight of his career. He absolutely blasted then undefeated Jose Armando Resendiz.
Dirrell didn’t look good in the split decision loss to Kyrone Davis in February. Again, he should dominate, but how much does Dirrell have left? More importantly, how much did the brutal loss to David Benavidez take out of him?
Dirrell looked like a tired, unenthusiastic fighter. Marcos Hernandez may do just enough to get the win.
Boxing Pick: Marcos Hernandez
