George Lopez Takes On Teofimo Kambosos in Saturday’s Top Match
Top Weekend Boxing Events
- When: Saturday, Nov. 27
Stephen Fulton -315 vs Brandon Figueroa +255
- WBC & WBO Junior Featherweight Titles – 12 Rounds
We’re predicting Fulton versus Figueroa ends up a fight of the year candidate. Both guys love to bang. The difference between the two is that Figueroa has physical advantages.
Brandon is taller, 5’ 8 ½” to 5’ 6”, and has a longer reach, 72” to 70 ½”. But although Figueroa has the physical advantages, he won’t necessarily use them against Fulton. Stephen forces his opponents to fight his fight.
If Figueroa tries to throw inside the way he did against Nery, he’ll run into some issues. Fulton is one of the best inside boxers in the sport. He uses his body to shield or dampen power punches and counters beautifully off whatever his opponent throws.
We’d love to grab the decent odds on Figueroa. But undefeated Stephen Fulton is a master boxer who will take his time and wear down the bigger man. Fulton wins.
Boxing Pick: Stephen Fulton
Azinga Fuzile -200 vs Kenichi Ogawa +150
- IBF Junior Lightweight Title – 12 Rounds
Fuzile looked great in his last bout, a seventh round TKO victory against Martin Ward. The problem Ogawa will have in this bout is getting to Fuzile.
The South African based boxer has a wide stance that allows him to cover a lot of ground with a single step. He’s also extremely patient and because he’s a southpaw, he forces his opponents to make adjustments before the opening bell.
But even though Fuzile has the tools to win this, Ogawa has the much stronger record. Azinga is 15-1 with 9 knockout victories. Kenichi is 25-1-1 with 18 knockout wins.
Ogawa is also taller and appears to have a longer reach. It’s difficult to understand why Fuzile is favored over Ogawa. In a fight between two evenly matched boxers, it’s always best to back the pugilist offering the better odds.
Boxing Pick: Kenichi Ogawa
George Kambosos vs Teofimo Lopez
- When: Saturday, Nov. 27
- Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
- TV / Streaming: DAZN
- Boxing Odds: Kambosos +655 / Lopez -910
- Boxing Total: O 7 ½ (-150) / U 7 ½ (+130)
Why bet on Kambosos to beat Lopez?
Australian George Kambosos Jr. is a legit boxer. He’s 19-0 with 10 knockout victories and has a fantastic chin. Not only that, but rumors are Lopez struggled to make weight. If that’s the case, Kambosos could enter the ring with much more energy than the champ. Signs point to Kambosos having a real shot at the upset.
Why bet on Lopez to beat Kambosos?
Like Kambosos, Teofimo Lopez is also undefeated. But although Lopez hasn’t beaten as many opponents as Kambosos, Teofimo has 16 wins, he’s fougth the much better boxers. Lopez upset Vasyl Lomachenko in his last. Anybody who can outbox Lomachenko knows what he’s doing. Most rank Lopez in the top 10 pound-for-pound, which means Teofimo should have no trouble handing Kambosos his first loss.
Final Boxing Betting Prediction: Kambosos vs Lopez
George Kambosos is a tough dude. He has skills, which is why he isn’t more of an underdog to upset Teofimo Lopez.
But although Kambosos could make this interesting, he simply isn’t as good of an athlete. Not only that, but George hasn’t had the training that Lopez has had. Nor does Kambosos have a signature victory like beating Vasyl Lomachenko.
Lopez is also the much better boxer and Kambosos won’t get away with leaving his left down versus Teofimo the way he has in his other fights, which means the champ easily wins this.
There’s a chance Lopez knocks out Kambosos. But the challenger has a great chin. So look for better odds on Teofimo to win this via unanimous decision instead of odds on Lopez to beat Kambosos via TKO or KO.
Boxing Pick: Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision
