Bundesliga Betting Update: Wolfsburg Rising, Bayern Ready for Repeat

Bayern has won nine straight Bundesliga titles. Could this be the season a team breaks Munich’s streak? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean that, so far, one team has stepped it up big time. Bayern Munich may not dominate the way they have the past nine seasons. The door appears to have opened for an underrated squad while a former contender is back on track. Check out the latest in our Bundesliga Betting update.

2021-2022 German Bundesliga

  • When: Aug. 13, 2021 – May 14, 2022

Wolfsburg has taken the next step, 3-0 after 3 matches

Nobody considers Wolfsburg a top Bundesliga squad. But the team finished in the top four last season behind Bayern, Leipzig, and Dortmund.

So far this season, Wolfsburg is blasting their German League foes. On Aug. 29, Jerome Rousillon scored a goal to send Wolfsburg past RB Leipzig. After 3 matches, Wolfsburg is 3-0 and has a 2-point lead over Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

Can Wolfsburg keep this up? The team has some talent, including rising star 23-year-old Bote Baku who came over in 2020 from Mainz. The midfielder is a strong player.

Rousillon is top backer as is Brazilian William. Wolfsburg could have the right pieces to keep their impressive run going for at least a few more matches. They may not beat Bayern and win the title, but Wolfsburg should be a tough squad to deal with all season long.

Leverkusen on track for a bounce back season

Disappointing is the only way to describe Bayer Leverkusen’s 2020-2021 season. Often a contender for the title, Leverkusen fell off track and finished in sixth place with just 52 points, 26 points behind Bayern.

So far this season, Leverkusen has proven they’re back to being a threat. After 3 matches, Leverkusen has 7 points, tied with Freiburg and Bayern.

Leverkusen’s fans should feel confident. Since a first match draw with Union Berlin, Bayer has dominated. Facing Monchengladbach, Leverkusen showed why some feel they can beat Bayern and win the championship.

The home team trounced Gladbach 4-0 behind goals from Mitchel Bakker, Patrik Schick, Moussa Diaby, and Nadiem Amiri.

If that weren’t impressive enough, Leverkusen followed up the victory over Monchen by destroying Augsburg 4-1. This time, goals came from Iago, in the third minute, Florian Neiderlechner, Schick, and Florian Wirtz.

That’s eight goals in two matches from seven different players. Watch out for Leverkusen this season.

Dortmund likely to lose Haaland and Bayern likely to lose Lewandowski after this season

Unlike other club teams, who often play dumb, Man United let’s everyone know what their plans are. United never hid the fact they wanted Jadon Sancho.

Now, they’re not hiding the fact that next summer they’re going after Erling Haaland. But although the Red Devils will vigorously pursue Haaland, we shouldn’t look past Bayern’s attempt at transferring the Norwegian star.

Robert Lewandowski, one of the best players in Bayern’s and the Bundesliga’s history, will most likely leave Munich after this season. Lewandowski is 33-years-old. Bayern often turns to a younger striker once a player reaches 30 or so.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Bayern will want Haaland in Munich. Next summer’s Man United versus Bayern battle for Erling’s services should be fun to watch. So much so that we’re discussing it in September.
