Red Wolves of Arkansas State 2023

The Arkansas State Red Wolves tied with three other teams for second place in the Sun Belt West. The Red Wolves took a bad loss to finish the season at Marshall. That ruined a streak of three wins in their final four games. Offensively, Arkansas State scored 27.8 points per game. The passing offense threw for 224 yards per game, while they rushed for 151.5.

Quarterback Jaylen Raynor tossed for more than 2,300 yards on the season with 15 touchdowns. His top target on the season was Courtney Jackson, who led the team with 7 touchdowns. On the ground, Ja’Quez Cross was the top option. He rushed the football 120 times for 688 yards and 7 touchdowns.

This is the first bowl game for the Arkansas State Red Wolves. This is the third time they will play in the Camellia Bowl. They played in the game back in 2019, and beat the Florida International Panthers 34-26. In 2017, the Red Wolves took on the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee. The Red Wolves trailed 28-17 after three, and rallied, but fell short 35-30.

Northern Illinois 2023 Huskies

For the Northern Illinois Huskies, they won their final two games to get into a bowl game. The Huskies blanked Western Michigan, and then won a shoot-out at Kent State. The Huskies started the season in non conference play with a win on the road at Boston College, but then backed it with a bad loss to Southern Illinois.

The Huskies are led by Rocky Lombardi. The signal caller threw 10 touchdowns on the season. Trayvon Rudolph was the top receiver with 499 yards on the season. The Huskies calling card was their running game. Antario Brown rushed 187 times for 1,164 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.

Northern Illinois did not reach a bowl last season. Overall though, the Huskies have dropped seven straight bowl games. In 2021, the Huskies lost in the Cure Bowl to Coastal Carolina 47-41.

The Camellia Bowl is projected to be one of the most competitive bowl games of the season. The Red Wolves and Huskies are going to be in for quite the battle. The Vegas projected score for this game is Arkansas State 33-31 over the Northern Illinois Huskies.

Are the Georgia Southern Eagles Ready to Fly to a Bowl Victory?

The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Buffalo Bulls have never played a college football game against each other. For the first time ever, these two will meet on December 27th in the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama. Both of these teams come into this one looking to have a winning record on the season, as both enter the bowl game with a 6-6 record.

We’ll give you a brief preview of each team, and then we’ll give you our NCAA Football Bowl Betting prediction for the 2-22 Camellia Bowl.

Georgia Southern Eagles

The Eagles aren’t exactly coming into this one flying high. The losers of three of their last four needed a victory over Appalachian State in their final game to ensure a bowl berth. After a double-overtime victory, Georgia Southern clinched a bowl berth and ended up heading to Montgomery.

The head coach of the Eagles may have a familiar name. Clay Helton is in charge of the Eagles program. If that name rings a bell, it’s because he is the former head coach of the USC Trojans.

Buffalo will be looking across the line of scrimmage at another familiar face, as their former quarterback, Kyle Vantrease, is now the starting signal-caller at Georgia Southern. Vantrease has had an exceptional season, as he has thrown for over 3,900 yards with 25 touchdowns.

Vantrease has thrown 15 interceptions, so that could be an issue in this one. Buffalo has a very good secondary, so he will need to do a better job of protecting the football. With a talented group of receivers, Georgia Southern should be able to move the football through the air. We also can’t forget running back Jalen White.

White ran for 914 yards this season, and he’ll be going up against a defense that struggled to stop the run. Buffalo gave up over 175 yards per game on the ground this season.

Buffalo Bulls

Bulls quarterback Cole Snyder has also had a nice season. He threw for over 2,700 yards with 17 touchdowns. Buffalo has a very nice tandem of running backs, as Mike Washington and Ron Cook, Jr. had over a combined 1,200 yards on the ground with 11 touchdowns. The Bulls’ offense can score points as well, so we could see a lot of points put on the board.

We talked about Buffalo’s defense not being really strong, but Georgia Southern’s may be worse. They give up an average of 240 yards per game on the ground and over 250 per game in the air. Buffalo should be able to muster quite a bit of offense in this game.

Prediction

Georgia Southern is favored to win the Camellia Bowl by 3.5 points. Both teams have very good offenses, along with suspect defenses. We figure to see a lot of points scored in this one, but is Southern 3.5 points better than Buffalo?

We see this one being a shootout, with the Georgia Southern Eagles flying to a 42-35 victory over the Buffalo Bulls, thus covering the spread and earning a Camellia Bowl win.

NCAAF Betting Analysis for Georgia State Panthers Vs Ball State Cardinals – Camellia Bowl Odds

Bowl season always feels like getting a little bit of extra football after the regular season comes to an end. It’s fun to have football on TV every single day over the holiday season, even if many of the games that we see are smaller schools that don’t often get a ton of TV time. The fact that many of us don’t really pay attention to these schools during the regular season makes it a little tougher to handicap during bowl season, but there is more than enough data out there to help us all make a more informed decision when it comes time to wager on these games. The Camelia Bowl is the lone college football game on Christmas Day, and we have Georgia State in as a 6-point favorite. The point total for this one has been set at 51. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming match between Georgia State and Ball State so you can bet against the College Football Bowl odds

Georgia State Vs Ball State Game Info & Odds

  • When: Saturday, December 25 at 2:30 PM EST
  • Where: Cramton Bowl, Montgomery
  • TV: ESPN

Why bet on the Georgia State Panthers

In the week leading up to Christmas, many of the bowl games that we see feature teams that made it into bowl season by the skin of their teeth. It takes 6 wins to become bowl eligible, so the Georgia State Panthers are a little bit ahead of the game, going 7-5 in the regular season. It was how this team ended the season that was impressive, though, winning 3 in a row and 6 of their last 7 after a start that made a bowl game seem out of the question. What really stands out when looking at the Panthers stats for the season is that they won 6 in a row when in as a favorite. They went 6-1 ATS over the course of their last 7 games and have covered the spread in 7 of their last 8 road games played on a Saturday. The UNDER has hit in 5 of their last 6.

Why bet on the Ball State Cardinals

After a solid run of form in the middle of the season, the Ball State Cardinals lost 3 out of 4 coming down the home stretch, which meant that they had to win their final game of the season to become bowl eligible. They did that with a 20-3 win over Buffalo in a game that they started as a 6-point favorite. Overall, it has not been too bad for the Cardinals, as they have now won 13 of their last 19 games, but this will be a stern test for them. One thing that you do have to like is that the Cardinals seem to become a much better bet when playing as an underdog, going 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games they started as the dog. That said, they are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The UNDER has hit in 5 of their last 6 games.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think we are looking at a game where offense might be at a premium, which is why I am very much leaning towards the UNDER. I also like Georgia State to win and cover the spread in this one.

Pick: Georgia State Panthers 27 Ball State Cardinals 20
