With the 2019 CFL campaign heading into Week 13 of its 21-week regular season schedule, it’s time to take a look at the quartet of contests that are on tap for the upcoming week. With Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton all looking to take care of business at home, let’s find out where the best betting value lies for CFL betting buffs this coming week.

BC Lions (1-9) at Montreal Alouettes (5-4)

  • When: Friday, September 6, 2019 at 6:30 PM
  • Where: Molson Stadium, Montreal, Quebec
  • CFL Week 13 Odds: Montreal -7 / Total: 51.5

BC has lost six straight games including their 13-10 loss to Hamilton the last time out. The Lions have gone a pitiful 1-4-1 ATS during the span while getting held to 18 points or less four times. Montreal has won two straight and five of seven including a 28-22 win over Toronto in their last contest. The Alouettes have gone 4-3 ATS during the span while scoring 28 points or more four times.

Key Trends

  • Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Friday games.
  • Lions are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss.
  • Lions are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games.
  • Lions are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss.
  • Lions are 1-5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Lions are 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
  • Alouettes are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 13.
  • Alouettes are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.
  • Alouettes are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
  • Alouettes are 4-11 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Alouettes are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games following a ATS loss.
  • Alouettes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Friday games.
  • Alouettes are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games in September.

Prediction

The BC Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last four road dates against Montreal and a blistering 30-9 ATS in their last 39 meetings against the Alouettes overall. Still, none of that will matter right now, seeing as how the Lions are a complete and utter mess and playing on the road. Montreal averages 5.3 points per game more than BC while allowing 6.1 fewer points per game defensively. The Alouettes will win and cover in Week 13!

Pick: Montreal -5.5

Toronto Argonauts (1-9) at Ottawa Redblacks (3-7)

  • When: Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:00 PM
  • Where: TD Place Stadium, Ottawa Ontario
  • CFL Week 13 Odds: Ottawa -5.5 / Total: 51.5

Toronto has lost three straight including a 38-27 road loss to Hamilton last weekend as an 11-point underdog. Unfortunately, the Argonauts have allowed 38 points or more in two of their last three games. Ottawa has also dropped three straight including a 40-18 blowout loss against Saskatchewan the last time out while failing to cover the chalk as a 8.5-point road underdog.

Key Trends

  • Argonauts are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss.
  • Argonauts are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.
  • Argonauts are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
  • Argonauts are 2-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Argonauts are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September.
  • Argonauts are 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 road games.
  • Argonauts are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. East.
  • RedBlacks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. East.
  • RedBlacks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a bye week.
  • RedBlacks are 2-7 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • RedBlacks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
  • RedBlacks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Prediction

While Toronto has won just once this season, I’m going with the Argonauts to get the upset road win in this Week 13 matchup mostly because the Redblacks are struggling mightily to score right now. Ottawa has been limited to 18 points or less in each of their last three games while getting held to 12 points or less in two of those contests. Toronto has scored 22 or more in each of their last four games and their superior offense will be the main reason they win and cover as a slight road dog.

Pick: Toronto +5.5Saskatchewan Roughriders (7-3) at Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-3)

  • When: Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM
  • Where: IG Field, Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • CFL Week 13 Odds: Winnipeg -1.5 / Total: 48

Saskatchewan has won six straight including their hard-fought 19-17 home win over Winnipeg the last time out. The Roughriders have gone 5-1 ATS over their last six despite failing to cover the chalk as a 5-point favorite the last time out. Winnipeg will be looking to bounce back from their narrow loss against Saskatchewan the last time out. The Blue Bombers had their three-game winning streak snapped but they’ve managed to score 26 points or more three times over their last four while topping the 30-point plateau twice.

Key Trends

  • Roughriders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games.
  • Roughriders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
  • Roughriders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
  • Roughriders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.
  • Roughriders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
  • Roughriders are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 vs. West.
  • Roughriders are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September.
  • Blue Bombers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. West.
  • Blue Bombers are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a ATS win.
  • Blue Bombers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
  • Blue Bombers are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
  • Blue Bombers are 21-8 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Blue Bombers are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 Saturday games.
  • Blue Bombers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.

Prediction

Winnipeg has the statistical scoring advantage on both aides of the ball and they’re playing at home on the back end of this home-and-home series. The Blue Bombers are a near-perfect 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and a bankroll-boosting 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games overall. Revenge will be the name of this game as the Blue Bombers win and cover the chalk as a small home favorite.

Pick: Winnipeg -1.5

Calgary Stampeders (6-4) at Edmonton Eskimos (6-5)

  • When: Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM
  • Where: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, Alberta
  • CFL Week 13 Odds: PK / Total: 48

Calgary snapped a two-game skid by beating Edmonton 25-9 last weekend while covering the spread as a 3.5-point home favorite. The Stampeders are 4-2 over their last six and have scored 24 or more in five of those contests while holding the opposition to 18 points or less four times. Edmonton has dropped two straight including the aforementioned 25-9 loss to Calgary last weekend. The Eskimos are 2-2 over their last four games, but just 1-3 ATS during the span. The Eskimos have allowed 25 points or more in each of their last three games and four times in their last five games overall.

Key Trends

  • Stampeders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. West.
  • Stampeders are 6-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Stampeders are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
  • Stampeders are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.
  • Eskimos are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 13.
  • Eskimos are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in September.
  • Eskimos are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • Eskimos are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Prediction

With the Eskimos back at home and looking to extract some revenge for their loss against the Stampeders last weekend, I like Edmonton to get the narrow win and ATS cover as a Pick ‘em. The Eskimos are 4-1 at home this season while Calgary has gone a modest 2-2 on the road. The Eskimos are a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last six home dates against the Stampeders!

Pick: Edmonton as a Pick ‘Em
