We are nearing the end of the CFL regular season and this week is crucial to a number of teams. Soon enough, teams will start to become eliminated from postseason contention. Three of the five post-season tickets have already been punched! Those teams are the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Argonauts, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This week, the three other playoff contenders are fighting for those final two spots! Let’s take a look at this week’s Canadian Football League preview so you can get ready to bet against the CFL odds.
2021 CFL Week 14 Betting Preview
BC Lions vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats, NOV 5th @ 7pm
In the East division rankings, Hamilton is currently tied in second place and is in a position to make the playoffs. BC is on elimination watch this week. With 4 wins on the season, they will not be able to make up for those games assuming they lose this week, Montreal wins, and Calgary wins next week. This will be a very physical matchup in Ontario. The Tiger-Cats are currently listed as 6.5 point favorites over the BC Lions.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have this game in the bag. Jeremiah Masoli will continue on his hot streak and bring Hamilton one step closer to the postseason! While these two teams are very similar statistically on both sides of the gridiron, Orlando Steinauer has called a near-perfect past two weeks. The Tiger-Cats will emerge victorious with a score of 38-20!
Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Edmonton Elks, NOV 5th @ 9:45 pm
With the Roughriders officially punching their ticket to the playoffs, this game has virtually no purpose. It is nearly impossible for the Elks to make the playoffs so this game has virtually no importance for them. With a Saskatchewan win, they could be in contention for the divisional title! Last week against Montreal, they put up quite a show for the fans in Percival Molson stadium.
They dominated on either side of the football! Allowing only 14 points to one of the best offenses in the CFL and Fajardo looked phenomenal passing as well as rushing! The Roughriders will catch their third consecutive win against the Elk 32-16 covering the -6 spread in their favor!
Toronto Argonauts vs Ottawa Redblacks, NOV 6th @ 4 pm
Similar to the game above, the home team is substantially worse than the visiting team. The team in the capital city is the only team in the CFL that has been eliminated from further contention. They had low expectations heading into the season and somehow got even lower. Toronto looks to win its first divisional title since 2017!
This 6-squad has looked like one of the best teams in the league starting from the offseason. All of their signings have panned out beautifully and have led to becoming the most successful team in Toronto! This win will clinch their division and they will beat their sorry opponent 42-17 and cover the 10.5 point spread!
Montreal Alouettes vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers, NOV 6th @ 7 pm
It goes without saying that this will be the best game this week in the CFL. When you get that Saturday night prime slot, you know you got a good game on your hands! Montreal tragically fell in the hands of the Roughriders but showed some promise in the QB situation! Newly acquired QB Trevor Harris made the Elk look stupid for trading him away.
Only playing in the fourth quarter, he tossed for 123 yards, one touchdown, and went 12/15! The Blue Bombers had a bye week following their embarrassment of the BC Lions destroying them by 45 points! However, Winnipeg already won their division title so they won’t play their starters. Montreal will shock the world in an unbelievable upset beating the reigning champs 30-21 covering the 12.5 point spread favoring Winnipeg!
