Week 17: Friday, September 27th – Saturday, September 28th, 2024

Betting 2024 CFL Season

The CFL has been fun to follow this year, and that is typically the case with this league throughout the past decade.

The Montreal Alouettes continue to lead the way throughout the league, but there are still some great playoff races that are heating up.

There are some interesting matchups on the schedule in Week 17 and many of these games are going to dictate what happens moving forward.

Here is a look at the games taking place in Week 17 and the odds to win the CFL title.

Writer’s Picks for the Top CFL Games Week 17

Edmonton Elks at Winnipeg Bombers

Friday, September 27th, 2024

The Edmonton Elks are still a much better team on the road than they are at home, but they are not a good team overall.

Edmonton is a team that struggles to score points, and that will be a problem in this game.

The Winnipeg Bombers are in need of a big win as they are trying to track down the Montreal Alouettes in the standings, and this is a great opportunity.

Winnipeg will get a double digit win on their home field in this matchup.

Ottawa Redblacks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The Ottawa Redblacks and Saskatchewan Roughriders are both in an interesting position as they are trying to fight for their playoff lives.

Ottawa has been the better team this season, but playing this game on the road is going to be a challenge.

This is a game that will come down to the wire, and those games are usually won by the home team.

Take the Roughriders to pick up a big win in this matchup.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at BC Lions

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to struggle, and they are big underdogs on the road against the BC Lions in this game.

BC is a team that is on the move, and they look like they can come up with the Grey Cup this season.

This is not going to be a good game, and you shouldn’t expect to see an underdog win this game.

Bet on the BC Lions as they are winning this game by double-digits.

Montreal Alouettes at Toronto Argonauts

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

There are many years when the Alouettes and Argonauts are battling for the league crown, and that is going to be the case this year as well.

This should be the best game of the weekend, and that will be an excellent battle.

Montreal has been the best team in the league the entire season, but this is a game in which you should expect Toronto to stand up.

The Argonauts are in need of a massive win, and beating Montreal would qualify as such.

Bet on the Argonauts to come up with a big win in this matchup.

CFL Betting Odds to Win the Next Grey Cup Title

Even though some of the playoff races are tightening up throughout the league, there hasn’t been a change in the odds to win the CFL title this season.

The Montreal Alouettes continue to be the betting favorites, and those odds are now sitting at +145.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (+325) and BC Lions (+400) are the next two teams on the list, and they are both trying to find a way to get to the best record in the league.

The odds do start to fall off at this point, but you can’t really rule out any team at this point of the season.

  • Ottawa Redblacks +850
  • Toronto Argonauts +900
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders +1000
  • Edmonton Elks +8500
  • Calgary Stampeders +12500
  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats +17500

What Are the Best CFL Betting Strategies? Let’s Find Out

Betting on the CFL offers unique opportunities to win big, and by using the right strategies will give you that edge that you will need for ever game or future but you place with MyBookie. Here are some of the best CFL betting strategies to consider:

  1. Understand the CFL Odds:
The first step in any successful strategy is understanding CFL odds.
CFL betting lines can differ from other leagues like the NFL, so knowing how to read and understand these odds is very important.
Whether you’re looking at moneyline, point spread, or over/under, pay close attention to how the odds shift throughout the week.

  2. Research Team Trends and Injuries:
Like any other sport, staying up-to-date on team performance and injuries is a must when considering any bet.
Teams on a hot streak or dealing with key injuries will have a significant impact on the CFL football odds.
A team’s recent form and roster changes are great indicators of value when placing bets.

  3. Consider Home-Field Advantage:
The CFL has a unique home-field dynamic, with some stadiums and fan bases offering strong advantages.
Be sure to factor in how teams perform at home versus on the road, especially when betting on the CFL point spread of the game.

  4. Bet on Key Matchups:
Look for mismatches in crucial areas, such as quarterback play or defensive strength.
A dominant QB or defense can swing the game in their team’s favor, impacting both the CFL moneyline and spread.

  5. Use Live Betting:
One of the best CFL betting strategies is to take advantage of live betting.
CFL games can be unpredictable, and betting during the game allows you to capitalize on unforeseen shifts in performance.

By combining these strategies, you’ll have that edge to make smarter bets on your next CFL games.

Canadian Football League 2022 Grey Cup Odds and Top Games to Bet On Week 17

Previous Betting News

One month remains in the CFL season! Tons of teams still yet to make the postseason and tons of action! Check out the week 17 updated Grey Cup Odds and the best bets! With a full slate of games back in action, it can be ensured that this will be an epic unreal of Canadian football. Let’s jump right into action so you don’t miss your chance to bet against the CFL Odds.

Updated 2022 Grey Cup Betting Odds and Top Matches Heading Into Week 17 of the CFL Regular Season

TIER 1: The Favorites

Winnipeg Blue Bombers: +125

Even if the odds remain the same, it seems the model consistency from Winnipeg has kept them in this position. While the value is minimal, the Bombers will likely repeat, so I guess take your money where you can get it.

Toronto Argonauts: +400

The beast from the east climbs up yet another 100 units. They clinched a home postseason game and will likely represent the east in the grey cup. They suffered a one-point loss to Winnipeg in the early part of the season, so +400 seems favorable.

Calgary Stampeders: +400

It seems the Stampeders will be the second best coming out of the west. After last week’s huge win over BC, they can easily contend in the quest for glory.

TIER 2: Middle of the Pack

B.C Lions: +500

The Lions keep tumbling as they fail to improve while featuring inconsistent play. +500 is good odds, but they simply cannot get their act together.

Saskatchewan Roughriders: +1000

The Roughriders are looking to sneak into the playoffs. This injury-filled squad could surprise people in the postseason, so +1000 could be an interesting play.

Montréal Alouettes: +1200

There is a strong argument that the Alouettes can make a lot of noise in the playoffs. With the ability to beat any team, the Als are the dark horse team in this year’s postseason.

TIER 3: Bottom Feeders

Ottawa Redblacks: +10000 and Hamilton Tiger-Cats: +4000, and Edmonton Elks: +20000

Even with a month remaining, there is still the slightest chance that some of these clubs make the postseason. Will they make noise? No, and they will likely not win the grey cup, but there is mathematically a chance. Don’t waste your money in these clubs.

Week 17 Best Bets

Saskatchewan Roughriders (+8.5) vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Bombers will, in all likelihood, win this game. But the spread has been difficult to cover from them at home as they are 3-3 ATS at home this year. Saskatchewan has also been mediocre as far as ATS goes. But 8.5 is too much for the Bombers to burden.

Montreal Alouettes (-3.5) vs Edmonton Elks

The Alouettes have been on fire as of late as they continue to push for the playoffs. The Elks have been ok ATS this year, but that is because the spread is usually stacked against them. The Als, on the other hand, have been great ATS and will definitely cover this field goal spread.

CFL Week 17 Odds, Preview and Picks

  • When: October 4 – October 5

Friday, Oct. 4

Edmonton Eskimos vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats

  • 2019 CFL Week 17 Odds: Hamilton Tiger-Cats -7

Since August 23, the Eskimos have been in a world of hurt. Edmonton is 0-5 SU and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games. The Eskimos last battled Hamilton on Sep. 20. They actually played the Tiger-Cats extremely tough. However, that matchup took place in Edmonton while this one happens at Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats are 4-1 ATS at home. They should make it 5-1 on Friday night.

CFL Betting Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats -7

Saturday, Oct. 5

Calgary Stampeders vs Montreal Alouettes

  • 2019 CFL Week 17 Odds: Calgary Stampeders -3

Montreal has been a tough out this season. The Alouettes are 8-5 ATS overall and 3-3 ATS at home. The last time they battled Calgary, back on August 17, they beat the Stampeders 40-34. Calgary is 2-1-1 ATS in their last 4 while Montreal is 3-0 ATS in their last 3. The Alouettes are the play since they’re at home and have already proven they can beat the defending champs.

CFL Betting Pick: Montreal Alouettes +3

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Saskatchewan Rough Riders

  • 2019 CFL Week 17 Odds: Saskatchewan Rough Riders -4.5

This is a key matchup because Winnipeg sits at 9-5 while Saskatchewan is at 9-7. The Blue Bombers have hit a rough patch. They’re 1-3 SU in their last 4 while going 2-2 ATS. What’s really worrisome if you’re a Winnipeg fan is how the Blue Bombers only scored 13 points versus Hamilton in their last.

Saskatchewan beat Winnipeg 19-17 on Sep. 1. Winnipeg bounced back with a 35-10 victory on Sep. 7. Take the points on the Blue Bombers to get back on track with a good, cover, performance on Saturday.

CFL Betting Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Toronto Argonauts vs BC Lions

  • 2019 CFL Week 17 Odds: BC Lions -9

In the bottom feeder game for Week 17 in the Canadian Football League, the BC Lions host the Toronto Argonauts. The Argos are 2-11 straight up. However, they’re a more respectable 5-6 against the spread. BC is only 1-4 ATS at home. So, believe it or not, the Argos get the nod to cover in this matchup.

CFL Betting Pick: Toronto Argonauts

Canadian Football Betting Preview for Week 17

Friday, Oct. 5

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa RedBlacks

Ottawa beat Winnipeg 44-21 way back on August 17. The RedBlacks haven’t been perfect this season, they’re only 8-5, but they do lead the East Division. Ottawa’s also returned to form, winning two in a row both SU and ATS over Saskatchewan and Edmonton.

Winnipeg’s also won their last couple. The Blue Bombers dominated Edmonton 30-3 in their last. Before that, they covered a -10.5 spread against Montreal in a 31-14 victory. Winnipeg’s looking sharp and so is Ottawa.

When in doubt, take the points.

CFL Week 17 Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Saturday, Oct. 6

Toronto Argonauts at British Columbia Lions

At 3-11, Toronto’s got the second worst record in CFL. Only Montreal at 3-11 has a worse record than what Toronto’s got. The Argonauts don’t win games against the spread either, going 5-8 this season.

Toronto did beat BC 24-23 in mid-August, though. Could the Argos upset the Lions again? Probably not because since beating British Columbia on August 18, Toronto’s gone 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS.

BC rolls.

CFL Week 17 Pick: British Columbia Lions

Monday, Oct. 6

Calgary Stampeders at Montreal Alouettes

Calgary’s 11-2 record is fantastic. The Stampeders have only stubbed their toes against Saskatchewan and Edmonton. Calgary’s defense couldn’t stop the Rough Riders’ offense or the Eskimos’ offense.

Montreal’s offense doesn’t come close to Saskatchewan’s and Edmonton’s. Montreal did play Calgary tough, losing by only 17 as a 19.5 dog on July 21. Plus, Montreal’s coming off a game, a 29-34 loss to Saskatchewan, where they won ATS.

The Alouettes could take this against the spread while Calgary wins straight up.

CFL Week 17 Pick: Montreal Alouettes

Edmonton Eskimos at Saskatchewan Rough Riders

Saskatchewan’s gone 6-1 straight up in their last 7 games. The Rough Riders are only 3 games behind Calgary. They might not make up enough ground to reach the Stampeders, but who knows what happens in the playoffs?

The Rough Riders should beat Edmonton, no doubt, but Saskatchewan is 0-3 ATS in their last 3. Here’s another CFL matchup where the team that wins SU won’t be the team that wins ATS.

CFL Week 17 Pick: Edmonton
