CFL Week 4 Preview

Thursday, July 5

Hamilton Tiger-Cats -6 at Saskatchewan Rough Riders +6

Hamilton is now 2 and 1 after losing 14 to 28 to Calgary in Week 1. The Tiger-Cats rank first in CFL in total yards per game. Hamilton racks up a great 469.3 yards per. The Tiger-Cats’ D isn’t too shabby, either. It only allows 22 points per. Those stats are after the Week 1 loss. That means Hamilton has improved big time since the Stampeders took them down. Does Saskatchewan have any shot of keeping this game within the spread? Not really. The Rough Riders lost to Montreal in Week 3. That’s a sign they’re just not a very good football team. CFL Betting Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Friday, July 6

Ottawa RedBlacks -6.5 at Montreal Alouettes +6.5

Speaking of Montreal, they sure surprised CFL bettors when they beat the Rough Riders 23 to 17 in Week 3 as a +10.5 road dog. Montreal jumped out to a 13 to 3 halftime lead. It was smooth sailing after that. The Alouettes turned the game into a defensive struggle. That won’t happen versus Ottawa. The RedBlacks average 27 points per while allowing less than 21 per on average. Montreal’s offense won’t score while Ottawa’s offense will. This should be a blowout Ottawa win. CFL Betting Pick: Ottawa RedBlacks

Is Toronto a safe bet to win this week in the CFL?

Edmonton Eskimos -5 at Toronto Argonauts +5

Edmonton finally got on track in Week 3. Battling the BC Lions will help you do that. The Eskimos not only beat the Lions, but they also covered the spread. Edmonton trounced BC 41 to 22 as a -6.5 home favorite. Toronto is 0 and 2 after losses to Saskatchewan and Calgary. The loss to Calgary in Week 2, 7 to 41, was downright pathetic. The Argonauts will also be without their starting QB, Ricky Ray, who has been declared from playing again this season. Without Ray, Toronto should have no shot versus Edmonton, right? I don’t know. The Argonauts could surprise the Eskimos this week. I’ll take the points. CFL Betting Pick: Toronto Argonauts

BC Lions +3.5 at Winnipeg Jets -3.5

Winnipeg bookended a fantastic 56 to 10 win over Montreal with a 30 to 33 loss to Edmonton in Week 1 and a 17 to 31 loss to Hamilton in Week 3. The Jets should bounce back in Saturday’s CFL primetime game with a win and cover over the BC Lions. The Lions did beat Montreal in Week 1. In Week 2, Edmonton trounced them. I’m expecting a similar fate for BC in Week 4 versus Winnipeg. This game could turn into a rout. CFL Betting Pick: Winnipeg Jets
