Canadian Football League Week 6 Betting Analysis & Picks

Week of the CFL season is in the books as we make our past Labour Day into a big stretch of upcoming games.

Three of the four matches in Week 6 feature rematches from this past weekend, so it’ll be fun to see who gets revenge and who doesn’t. With that said, here are my CFL Betting picks for Week 6 of the 2021 Canadian Football season.

2021 CFL Week 6 Betting Preview

Friday, September 10: Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts

Hamilton dominated in their home opener on Monday, and Dane Evans was really efficient at quarterback for the Ticats. The Argos offense didn’t show up in the first half, and it was too little too late by the time they got things going. Hamilton has won two games in a row, and although I don’t fully trust Evans yet, their defense is finally healthy and looking like the unit that helped propel the Ticats to the Grey Cup in 2019. Take Hamilton to beat Toronto for the second time in a short week.

The Pick: Hamilton 20 – Toronto 14

Saturday, September 11: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Winnipeg not only went into Saskatchewan and gave the Riders their first loss on the season but did it in dominating fashion as well. Mike O’Shea’s club is the better all-around team, and by the end of the week, the Bombers will have the best odds at sportsbooks to win the Grey Cup in December. They’re the defending champs for a reason and are almost impossible to bet against when playing at home.

The Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28 – Saskatchewan 13

Saturday, September 11: Calgary Stampeders at Edmonton Elks

Calgary may be in deep trouble. Jake Maier hasn’t been the issue in Bo-Levi’s absence, but the Stamps defense is horrible and is coming off giving up nearly 400 yards through the air to Trevor Harris. They’ll face Harris again this week, this time in Edmonton. The Elks possess a surprisingly good defense, and with Harris coming off the best outing so far this year, Edmonton is the right team to back.

The Pick: Edmonton Elks 35 – Calgary Stampeders 17

Saturday, September 11: Ottawa RedBlacks at BC Lions

The Ottawa RedBlacks are by far the worst team in the CFL, and I will continue to pick against them until they show that they can move the ball on offense for a full 60 minutes. The Lions are a league-average team but will have no problem getting the win at home on Saturday in front of their home fans.

The biggest question is, who will start for Ottawa at QB: Matt Nichols or Dominique Davis? Nichols was taken out by RedBlacks head coach Paul LaPolice after only five passing attempts, one of which included an interception. Former NFL backup Dominique Davis took over and played the rest of the game.

Either way, it doesn’t really matter who starts. BC is fresh coming off a bye, and the RedBlacks gave up a whopping 51 points to the Alouettes this past Friday. Take the Lions to win by double digits in the final game of Week 6.

The Pick: BC Lions 24- Ottawa RedBlacks 9
