NCAA Football Week 14 ATS Picks

Written by on November 27, 2018

There are 4 available spots in the college football playoffs, and as we head into the championship portion of the season, there are realistically only 7 teams who can take those spots. It would be more than fair to argue that the top 3 already looks to be a lock, leaving Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State battling it out for the 4th and final place.

By the time Saturday night ends, we should know who would land where, so it is all to play for this weekend. It’s not as busy a schedule as usual, but we still have some NCAAF Betting picks for you guys, starting with our ATS selections. We will also have SU and O/U picks coming your way, so be on the lookout for those.

Marshall Thundering Herd vs Virginia Tech Hokies (-4 ½)

While most of us will be focusing on the conference championship games this weekend, it is worth remembering that there are other games on the schedule. This one may not look like much in the grand scheme of things, but if the Hokies pick up the win in this one, they will become bowl eligible.

With an 8-3 record, the Thundering Herd already have a bowl date coming. This is not a match-up that we see very often, but it’s one that the Hokies have dominated, winning all 5 previous meetings by an average of around 24 PPG. This is a must win for Virginia Tech, which is why I like them to win and cover.

Latest NCAA Football Week 14 Betting Trends

  • Marshall is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games
  • Marshall is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
  • Virginia Tech is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Virginia Tech is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home

Stanford Cardinal (-2 ½) vs California Golden Bears

A pair of teams coming in with identical 7-4 records makes for a good match-up and the bookies have this one as being close. I would tend to agree, but I do also believe that it is the Cardinal who has the edge in this game.

They have been an outstanding bet on the road, going 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games away from home. They have also won 4 of the last 5 games that they have played on the road versus Cal, while also covering the spread in 5 of the last 6. All of the trends point in the direction of Stanford and the cover.

Georgia Bulldogs (+13 ½) vs Alabama Crimson Tide

We have known that these two would be meeting in the SEC Championship Game for a few weeks now, and it’s one that we have all been looking forward to, given how good their last meeting was in the National Championship Game.

Alabama is one of the NCAA Football Week 14 favorites.

The Crimson Tide opened as a 10-point favorite, but that point spread has since ballooned to 13 ½, as the champions are getting all the early money. I think those additional 3 ½ points make Georgia a very good bet, especially since their offense seems to be in a groove coming into this one. I think the Bulldogs keep this one close.

  • Alabama is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Alabama is 2-4-1 ATS in its last 7 games when playing Georgia
  • Georgia is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games

Pittsburgh Panthers (+26 ½) vs Clemson Tigers

On paper, the ACC Conference Championship Game looks very much like David Vs Goliath, and the opening point spread very much reflects that.

There are a couple of things to consider when looking at this one, and it all has to do with Clemson. The first thing we should talk about is that they have covered just once in the last 6 games where they have been favored by 21 points or more. The other is that they probably have more games ahead of them, as the Tigers appear to be a playoff lock. If they are well ahead going into the second half, look for the starters to begin getting pulled.
