2019 College Football Week 4 Must-Bet Games
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Georgia Bulldogs
- When: Saturday, September 21, 2019 at TBD
- Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
CFP before getting routed by eventual champion Clemson 30-3 in their semifinal showdown. Still, after finishing 42nd in scoring (31.4 ppg) and a stupendous 13th in points allowed (18.2 ppg), the Irish are looking to contend again in 2019.
Despite taking a slight step backwards from their outstanding 2017 campaign, Georgia managed to go an impressive 11-3 last season even though their 2018 campaign ended with a 28-21 upset loss against Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia ranked 14th in scoring last season (37.9 ppg) and an equally impressive 15th in points allowed (19.2 ppg) and I believe the Dawgs will be back in title contention in 2019, if they win this whopper of a Week 4 matchup that is.
Michigan State Spartans at Northwestern Wildcats
- When: Saturday, September 21, 2019 at TBD
- Where: Ryan Field, Evanston, IL
Michigan State went a modest 7-6 and 5-4 in the Big ten East a year ago while ranking an awful 126th in scoring (18.7 ppg), but a fantastic eighth in points allowed (17.2 ppg). The Spartans capped off their 2018 campaign with an uninspiring 7-6 loss against Oregon in the Redbox Bowl.
Northwestern went 9-5 and a stellar 8-2 in the Big Ten West division while finishing the 2018 season ranked an uninspiring 100th in scoring (24.2 ppg), but a solid 41st in points allowed (23.2 ppg). The Wildcats capped off their season by subduing Utah 31-20 in the Holiday Bowl and now they’re looking for even bigger and better things in 2019 under longtime head coach Pat Fitzgerald – and their shocking, fourth straight win in this series.
Oregon Ducks at Stanford Cardinal
- When: Saturday, September 21, 2019 at TBD
- Where: Stanford Stadium, Stanford, CA
Oregon went 9-4 last season and 5-4 in the Pac-12 North while ranking a solid 25th in scoring (34.8 ppg) and 48th in points allowed (25.4 ppg) in their first season under head coach Mario Cristobal. With star quarterback Justin Herbert challenging to be the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft, the Ducks are looking to take a big leap forward in 2019 after getting past Michigan 7-6 in last season’s Sugar Bowl.
Stanford also went 9-4 last season and 6-3 in the Pac-12 North while ranking 73rd in scoring (28.4 ppg) and 38th in points allowed (22.9 ppg) while capping their season off with a narrow 14-13 win over Pittsburgh in the Sun Bowl. The Cardinal have won three straight in this series and are looking to improve in 2019, but they’ll have to do so without their top receiver and running back from a year ago.
