2019 College Football Week 8 Over/Under Betting Picks

Written by on October 15, 2019

It can be tough to select just a handful of games to play in any given week in college football, especially with so many to choose from. Some bettors stick to playing the teams that the know well, a strategy that can come back to haunt them when upsets hit, as they so frequently do in this sport.

The better strategy is to look at all the games to find the best bets. That takes time, tough, so we try to do it for you as best we can. As we do every week, we are delivering some O/U, ATS, and SU picks for the upcoming weekend schedule. Be aware that odds can change, so always check before placing your wagers.

2019 College Football Week 8 Over/Under Betting Picks

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Miami Hurricanes (UNDER 46)

The Yellow Jackets have a new head coach and a new system that they are trying to put into effect this season, which has had an impact on their offensive output. There are zero guarantees that they are going to put points on the board as they go through some teething troubles.

With that in mind, I have focused most of my attention on the Hurricanes, which has led me to the UNDER here. Miami has seen the UNDER hit in 10 of their last 13 games, as well as in 7 of their last 9 games versus conference foes. I think we are looking at the UNDER again this weekend.

  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Georgia Tech’s last 7 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Miami-FL’s last 10 games played on a Saturday

Wisconsin Badgers at Illinois Fighting Illini (OVER 49 ½)

Don’t look now, but the 6-0 Wisconsin Badgers might well be primed to take a run at the Big Ten and a spot in the playoffs. Besides having a great defense, which the Badgers always seem to have, they are also putting up some big numbers on the offensive side of the football.

They are averaging 43 PPG this season, which puts them really close to the point total for this one all on their own. I would not be surprised to see Wisconsin rack up 50-plus points this weekend, making this an easy OVER pick. Illinois has seen 11 of their last 14 games versus the Big Ten go OVER.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Wisconsin’s last 12 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of Illinois’ last 14 games against an opponent in the Big 10 conference

Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Cincinnati Bearcats (UNDER 50 ½)

This is one that looks to be a rather straightforward win for the Bearcats, but it’s also a game where the UNDER would appear to be a very decent bet. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have seen 5 of their last 7 games go that route, not to mention 7 of their last 9 games played in the month of October.

Tulsa is one of the favorites for College Football Week 8.

The argument for the UNDER becomes even more real when you look at the Bearcats, who have seen 15 of their last 19 games played in October go UNDER. This may well be the first pick on my betting slip this weekend.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Tulsa’s last 9 games played in October
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Cincinnati’s last 5 games played in week 8

LSU Tigers at Mississippi State Bulldogs in College Football Week 8 (OVER 61)

You never used to think of the LSU Tigers as an offensively gifted team, but they have turned the table around in a big way this season, averaging almost 55 PPG. If you look at their last 5 games, they have surpassed the 61 points being offered here in 4 of them.

While they do score a lot, they don’t often keep the opposition off the board, which means that we can certainly expect Mississippi State to play a part in making sure that the total in this one goes OVER.

  • The total has gone OVER in 8 of Louisiana State’s last 9 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Mississippi State’s last 13 games against an opponent in the Southeast conference
