After a major shake-up in the rankings in Week 7 of the college football season, it’s time to look ahead to the coming weekend to see if we can find some games that will help us boost our bankroll. If you had the South Carolina Gamecocks beating the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend, then you may be skipping this week in order to spend your huge cash out. For the rest of us, it’s all about tracking down those big wins again in College Football Week 8.
We will be covering all the angles for the games this coming week, but for this piece we will be looking at straight up picks. As always, we will try to focus on the games that the bookies see as being close so that you can get some decent College Football odds.
2019 College Football Week 8 SU Betting Picks
Pittsburgh Panthers over Syracuse Orange
The Pittsburgh Panthers are coming into this one off a bye week after winning 3 games in a row prior to their week off. This is a team that has been involved in a ton of close games and who have made a habit of grinding out the win. In those last 3 wins, the Panthers won by a combined total of 7 points, which gives you an idea why the bookies have this as being a close one.
Perhaps they shouldn’t, though as the Panthers have dominate Syracuse in recent years, winning 8 of their last 10 meetings. We are probably looking at another close one on Friday night, but I like Pitt to win.
College Football Week 8 Betting Trends
- Panthers are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
- Panthers are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games played in October
- Orange are 9-4 SU in their last 13 games
- Orange are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games against an opponent in the Atlantic Coast conference
Oregon Ducks over Washington Huskies
The PAC 12 is once again turning into a dog eat dog conference, with things potentially getting tighter and more complicated this weekend, assuming that the Huskies can come away with the home win. It’s a victory that Washington really needs given that they have already lost 2 games in conference play.
I don’t believe that they will get it, though, as the Ducks still have an eye on a playoff spot. They are 5-1 overall, which is not ideal, but they are 3-0 in conference play and a win this weekend would put them right on the doorstep of the Conference Championship Game. Ducks win this one.
College Football Week 8 Betting Trends
- Ducks are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games
- Ducks are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games against an opponent in the Pacific 12 conference
- Huskies are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
- Huskies are 17-1 SU in their last 18 games at home
Virginia Cavaliers over Duke Blue Devils
We have a pair of teams going in opposite directions here, which might make my pick for this one seem a little strange. After getting hammered by Alabama in the opening week of the season, the Duke Blue Devils have now won 4 of their last 5, with their lone loss in that stretch being a close on at the hands of Pitt.
The Cavaliers have gone the opposite way, losing back to back games after going unbeaten through their first 4. The big thing here, though, is home field, with the Cavaliers a perfect 3-0 in their own building this season.
College Football Week 8 Betting Trends
- Blue Devils are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
- Blue Devils are 2-9 SU in their last 11 games played in October
- Cavaliers are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games
- Cavaliers are 7-2 SU in their last 9 games when playing at home against Duke
Virginia Tech Hokies over North Carolina Tar Heels
One of the great stories of the opening few weeks of the season was seeing North Carolina become the upset kings under the return of head coach Mack Brown. They have come back to earth since then, though, and are now 3-3 on the season.
They will have another tough one this weekend, going on the road to face a Virginia Tech Hokies team that has beaten them in 7 of their last 10 meetings. This should be a fun one to watch and I like the Hokies to snap out of their slump.
College Football Week 8 Betting Trends
- Tar Heels are 5-13 SU in their last 18 games
- Tar Heels are 1-8 SU in their last 9 games on the road
- Hokies are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
- Hokies are 15-5 SU in their last 20 games played in week 8
