3 Reasons To Bet Michigan To Win College Football Championship

Written by on November 21, 2016

I don’t care which college football team you follow, there is no game bigger this weekend than the one that sees the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes go head to head. Both teams are going into that one needing to win to get to the Big Ten Championship game, as well as to secure a spot in the College Football Playoffs. People are going to be talking about this game all week long, but rather than focus on that single game, I am going to instead look at reasons why I believe that the Michigan Wolverines not only win that game, but also the National Championship. Here are 3 reasons why that scenario will play out:

Analyzing The 3 Reasons To Bet On Michigan To Win College Football Championship

A Balance Between Offense and Defense

The Michigan Wolverines are a team that are incredibly tough to break down, but even if you do get to them, you are still likely looking at getting into a shootout because of how quickly they can put points on the board. The Wolverines are in the top 10 in PPG with 42.1 this season, but the number that jumps out is the 10.9 PPG they are giving up, which just happens to be the best in the nation. This is a team loaded with 5-star talent on both sides of the ball, and while the offense has sputtered a little in the past couple of weeks, you get the sense that it’s a temporary outage.

Superior Coaching

It can certainly be argued that coaches get too much credit for winning and too much blame for losing, but things are a little different in college football. A college head coach gets to select the young men that he believes will best fit his philosophy, and then gets to mold them into something special. Jim Harbaugh has turned the Wolverines around a lost faster than anyone ever expected, and this program looks to be in good standing for many years to come. The biggest coaching obstacle in his way is Nick Saban at Alabama, but when it comes down to it, I think the Michigan defense can outplay a freshman QB and that Crimson Tide offense.

The Versatility of Jabril Peppers

You don’t like to put the fate of a program on the shoulders of one young man, but in the case of Jabril Peppers, we are talking about a guy who relished that role. Every team need a big play maker and a possible game changer, and in Peppers, Michigan has a player that can do that on both sides of the ball, as well as on special teams. Peppers has worn 7 different position hats this season, and he has excelled in them all. Every team that faces Michigan from this point forward is going to need to focus on this young man, and in doing so, you end up forgetting about one or two other major players on the Michigan team who can hurt you real bad if you overlook them.
