Prediction #1 – Clemson will go undefeated SU
The -350 Tigers face a difficult schedule, but they don’t face any team they can’t beat. Unless Clemson beats itself in some way, like a turnover at the wrong time, the Tigers should go undefeated in the regular season. Virginia Tech or Miami has an outside shot of beating Clemson. Clemson shouldn’t lose to either, though. A 12-0 SU record is more than possible.Prediction #2 – At best, Clemson is .500 ATS
Teams that win SU don’t always win ATS. Alabama doesn’t have a great ATS record. Last season, Clemson went 8-5-1 ATS. The Tigers should go 5-5 ATS during the regular season. For the Furman game, most oddsmakers won’t set a betting line. Also, college football handicappers will overbet Clemson, driving up spreads. Like Nick Saban at Alabama, coach Dabo Sweeney prefers to get big leads and give his scrubs playing time. That leads to non-covers.Prediction #3 – Virginia Tech will win the ACC Coastal Divison
Miami went 10 and 3 and 7 and 2 in the conference last season. Virginia Tech went 9 and 4 and 5 and 3 in the conference. Bettors feel that Miami is the only team with a chance to beat Clemson. Those bettors are wrong. Miami is a good football team, but the Hurricanes must rebuild its offensive line. That’s not true for Virginia Tech. VA Tech’s defense should be one of the best in the nation. Quarterback Josh Jackson could be the best quarterback in the ACC after Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. Virginia Tech wins the Coastal Division.Prediction #4 – Georgia Tech will go 8-4 SU
The Yellow Jackets only won 5 games last season. Georgia Tech should win 8 games this season. A new coaching staff and experience on both sides of the ball will lead to more victories. GA Tech should lose to Virginia Tech, Miami, Clemson, and Georgia. They could beat Miami, though, which means there’s a chance the Yellow Jackets go 9-3 SU.Prediction #5 – Miami will go 8-4 SU
Miami went 10-3 SU last season. The Hurricanes face a tougher schedule this season. They have road games at LSU, at Virginia, at Georgia Tech, and at Virginia Tech. Miami could lose all 4 games. If a team like Boston College, Florida State, or Duke upsets them, the record will fall to 7-5.Last 10 ACC Champions
